Yesterday I did a short NRC run and was going to take today off, don't like running two days in a row. As I went to make breakfast Mr Y said 'I thought we were running'. Ooh, go on then :)

The paths are really overgrown and there were quite a few sections where it felt safer to walk. It was already warm and felt warmer once we started to run. My pace varied between slow and very slow thanks to the terrain and the heat.

As I approached the 2km point there was a section of close cut grassy path. I slowed down to control my HR then thought 'enough going slow' and sped up for a few hundred metres. Felt great :) and took me to the sea wall.

Lately I've been running the path that runs alongside the wall on the landward side but today I decided to have a look at the river. The path up here was even less passable than the farmland. Never mind, I was only ever intending going slow today.

So, another 3km today, fractionally quicker than yesterday. I realised that if I want to do any longer runs I'm going to have to wait for cooler weather or, heaven forbid, get up earlier.

Happy running everyone!

Getting up earlier is hard! It’s amazing what going sometimes even just half an hour earlier makes in the hot weather though. I haven’t turned into enough of a grown up to manage it and I usually run at dusk.

Those 3ks are stacking up nicely! The long grass comes with its own special sort of challenge….maybe we need to campaign for an NRC run based around the challenges of summer fields and trails. Sounds like you still had a good one though! Beautiful picture 😍

Sometimes I think Coach B has never run in nature - it's all very well keeping your head up and looking straight ahead, but what about the dogs, foxes, horses etc that leave their evidence, or the branches and holes? He should do a winter one as well, about dealing with mud and puddles 😂

I'll definitely try and plan an earlier run or two, the weather is so lovely at the moment but I just can't run in the heat! By dusk I'm usually tired out.

Impassable paths are a real nuisance this time of year! I like to think I can push my way through a few brambles but I had to turn back on a run recently as I just could not get through - even walking!😖 That’s one track that will be out of action for a good while…unless the local farmer comes round with the strimmer!😂

We're very lucky that the farmer generally maintains their paths very well, but from time to time they get very overgrown. I don't hold it against them, there must be at least 15-20 km of paths, I wouldn't want to have to mow that :)

Well done Yesletsgo and lovely to hear you had a bit of razzle left at the end. I like running steady and do find it helps give you that zing you described there toward the seawall. Good times 🙌

Thanks, running slow is great but sometimes you just have to let go, speed up and have fun 😁

What a gorgeous view, but that path looks rough!! Sounds like you made the best of it, though.

I'm not one that can get up and get out. I need an hour or so to wake-up and get focused for the day. So I understand...

Definitely not a morning person either but morning is the only time I feel like running 😂 Apparently it's very good for you to leave a long gap between dinner and breakfast so I remind myself of that when it's 10am and I'm still plodding along 😂

I love running in the morning...and that's when most of my runs are.

Although I have to say, last week after a very trying day at work, I came home and rushed to get into my gear and out the door for an early evening run and it was great!
