My park buddie in the medical referral group, he is approaching 78- 80π€, retired chartered electrical engineer and lecturer and expatriate, you name it, ailments he has courageously battled through it,life threatening stuff.
Attends the park all the year round, it is only ever called off for very high winds.Risk assessment reasons by the sports coach.
Rain, occasional snow π€,the session is on.
Mind you we are lucky it is on the east side of holy island facing Liverpool and is magically sheltered. I live nearby on the west side facing Ireland and I cannot believe the difference in the weather just a few milesπ€π
Top coat of a difference and wet vs dry. π€I can leave the house and it is raining and can have our one hour session in the woodland park completely dry.Not just the tree shelter neither.π
Hi everyone, graduated C25k last week and have just completed my first social run group with my local running shop. Have never ran with anyone before and without an app/phone..... was very different.... but good though! Looking forward to getting more KMs under my shoes and hope to try a parkrun this Saturday!
Hi, I have started my June virtual challenge which is to run, walk cycle or swim as much as you can this month. I did a 3k run this evening, just counted the running though...I am intending to go on some nice long walks ( hopefully ) but do you think I should include the warm up/down walks too. That's an extra 10 minutes of brisk walking. Do you think that's what other people will be doing?
I'm not going to count trips to the supermarket etc. but actual exercise,,, ( it will mess up my stats a bit though πxx
Personally I would add them in, they are part of the challenge if done within your exercise routine. I think I would complete a full half k walk each end to make it easier to record.
Hi Millsie, thank you that's a good idea. I think it is roughly that, and it will give me an extra k every run I do! Didn't want to cheat, but also want to look reasonable on the leaderboard ππxx
I won't be cycling or swimming so need every k I can muster!
Wasnβt feeling it today - even though it was cooler and a bit of light rain fell as I ran. From the off each step felt like a battle and the gremlins were particularly active. On a different day I may have just switched to a shorter run but I had told myself today had to be the long run as I wonβt have time later in the week. Despite all this I came in with my usual 6min split for the 7k so clearly wasnβt as horrendous as it felt although my ankle ligaments are feeling quite niggly tonight. Overall got to be pleased I pushed through it.
