Happy New Year! I started RED January today. I wonβt be running everyday but mixing it up with gym/yoga and walking. Also have my first 5 mile trail run in the dark on 12 Jan! Busy start to the year. π
It stands for Run Every Day but itβs actully do an activity every day. Itβs for Mind charity - do a physical activity to improve and help your mental health.
Thank you for the link. I saw someone wearing the T-shirt at Parkrun on NYD, but didnβt know about Red January. Itβs a good time to do it after the excesses of December and a great cause too. Enjoy the challenge.
Happy New Year! As I completed c25k in December I am now looking to start aiming for 10K as Iβve been challenged to run a 10K event in April, Iβve also signed up to Red Jan. at the moment Iβm running in a pair of Decathlonβs own brand of running shoe which cost Β£13 at the moment they seem fine providing I donβt run off road to much so I need to look for a very cheap brand of running shoe that can handle both terrain. Any suggestions appreciated.
well done, and if they aren't causing any problems then they should be OK? I run off road in my normal shoes. it depends on how fast and how challenging it is...
Ended 2018 with a 5k, started 2019 with a spot of parkrun volunteering then a fairly quick (for me) 10k. Moving towards 5 runs a week and a slow build from now quite comfortable 10ks to 16k/10 miles. No longer term or distance plan at the moment.
Recognising the weather will change soon, Iβm trying to get out there as much as I can while I can.
Started the New Year with a bang, doing the double at parkrun this morning. πͺ I havenβt moved much since! π
I intend to ditch a snail or 2 this year. My daughter informed me (helpfully?) that I looked very fresh after parkrun last Saturday, which she completed in 31.09 as a first timer! I think she was telling me to stop snailing about! So I will try. Right, Iβve said it. (π«)
Iβd like to run 5k in 35 minutes or less and 10k in 1hr 15m or less. Weβll see!
Happy New Year fellow runners. I graduated my Bridge to 10k in October and since the dark nights and mornings have come in Iβve only been doing 6 or 7k at most. Iβm now following the plan again (loosely) to build back up to 10k and Iβve just signed up for my first ever official 10k race in Hull in June. So excited for all 2019 has in store x
Hi can I join in? Username is ambitious but I completed c25k in 2018 and somehow signed up to the vitality London 10k in May...let me know when the next bto10k starts!???
I am not speedy (parkrun pb just over 38 minutes...) but age is over 50 and I had never ran til c25k!
Looking forward to 2019 and achieving my 10k goal....
Similar to me in every way RF! Iβm mid 50s, graduated C25K in August having never run properly before, parkrun PB 37.05, but more like 38 minutes regularly, I worked my way to 10k twice and signed up for my first race on May 5th!
yay a great decision to make, and you have lots of time to train. The next Magic 10 starts on the 11th of january and I will be posting about it very soon.....
Happy new year! After loitering here for some months Iβm hoping to actually do the 10k plan when the next one starts! Iβm booked to do 10k race in April so I need to be able to do it by then!
Last 2 weeks have been odd trying to fit in running between the weather and social activities, kids go back to school on Monday so I will be looking forward to getting back into a routine.
New Years Resolution is simply to get stronger in my 10k distance.
Happy new year everyone. I did a lovely recovery 5km in the woods today. It felt like springtime. My weights classes donβt start back until next Week. My plan is running, core strengthening, Pilates and repeat. And enjoy same with the occasional race thrown In to speed me up a tad.
Happy new year! Started off with a short 20 minute run. Ended up running 2.7km and according to Strava PB for 400m; half a mile; 1km and a mile. Not bad going after a sleepless night and losing my mojo.
Hi all! Volunteered on NYD at Parkrun as backup timer, then ran a Freedom run, but definitely felt it! Iβve eased off for a couple of weeks and it tells. So back with intervals for me I think! Also signed up for a Resolution run 10K in April and a few triathlons. Just have to get my saddle sorted out on my new βGiantβ road bike π₯°
HNY everybody, having found running in 2018, I am really looking forward to 2019. I am breaking the habit of a lifetime by setting some New Years Resolutions and they are all running related, in no particular order they are :
Run 1000km in 2019 (did 500k in 7 mths Post graduating C25K)
Iβve been lurking in the shadows for a few weeks and thought it was time to say hello! Iβve been running on and off for a few years but the C25K has got me back into regular running. Iβm planning on joining the next magic 10 group... it will be a challenge!!
Started back 4 weeks ago after a horrible 7 weeks out with a knee injury but it's all starting to come back together again after a great sports therapist helped me out and I've entered a 10k for the end of Feb, another night one in November and am looking at some other stuff in between to keep me on track and make sure I don't waste what I built up before the knee gave way on me!
Took a new pair of shoes out on their first outing today too which seem to have no complaints about tagging along with me yet (!) so all in all am ready to literally put my best foot forwards! It will be 3 years since I completed C25K in a couple of weeks so I'm just thrilled that this has stuck with me. Happy running to you all out there and here's to a positive year
Happy New year π I have just got up to 10k with ju-ju 's plan a week or 2 ago. I wanted to do the Brighton HM in February, that was the plan.....but at the moment it seems a stretch. We will see. I want to keep going to parkruns , I am hooked. More cross training with swimming and paddle boarding when it gets warmer. Generally going to keep plodding along.
Hi Snuffy_T I'm hoping to do the Brighton HM too...had a minor injury last couple of weeks, which is getting better, but it has put the training back somewhat. Might have to re-think my cunning plan π€. Good luck with your plans. We can do this, for sure...got to be positive about it π»π
I just want to finish ...! There's a 3.5 limit before u have to run on the pavement. So it's well doable even if I have to walk some of it , no shame in a bit of walking I hope
Happy New Year to all. I am aiming to get back to regular running, my strategy has been to enter for a 10k in May so I will do your plan again ju-ju- and try to be running this distance comfortably well before May. Haven't been out yet in the New Year but tomorrow's forecast looks cold and clear so I may start off then. Hope everyone's plans work out well π
Happy new year. Had to slow my HM training down. After a week's rest I went back to the starting runs of C25K for a week, which I feel has done the trick...so getting back into the training plan, well back tracked a couple of weeks. I'm fairly determined to get to the start in February, but I am being realistic too - fairly, I'm so competitive with myself ππ¬.
Anyway, lovely to chat, thank you team for all your support, and happy running everyone, have a great and injury free 2019 ππ»
Happy New Year!!! I kicked it off with 5K on Tuesday and my first intervals yesterday. It was fun, although the average speed was not higher than the 5K one π³π€...
I will be joining ju-ju- βs plan on Jan-11, it will be certainly magic to run 10K and enjoy it, after a previous lifetime of βI hate runningβ motto!! π
Looking forward to a year running with you all! πββοΈππ»ββοΈπββοΈππ»ββοΈπββοΈππ»ββοΈπββοΈ
