Did my first 5K+ run today. Managed to do 6K and run for just over 40 mins. Very pleased, although I might have kept going a bit longer if I wasn’t about to go up a steep incline for the third time. Decided to call it a day and walk up instead to be kinder to my knees 😀
Started week 7 of 10 is the magic number, I'm a bit behind but getting there! Still running 3 times a week and even managed to get hubby up and running again! He hasn't run for 10 years but is a much more natural runner than me, l can't see how will run together as he struggles to run at my slower pace! Anyway, l am chuffed that he is off again and once I've achieved my 10k maybe we can plan some runs together!!😊and
Dexy5 and I run Parkruns individually (me around 25 mins, she 35), but for the other 2 runs a week (I'm on B210 W4 and she's consolidating C25) we run the first K together then I speed up. Depending on where we running, I try to work something out that means we meet up at some point to do another K or so together - that may mean me running on further on an out and back, or turning and doing 500m or so in the wrong direction, then turning again and aiming to catch up. And if it works out perfectly we finish at the same time in the same place for coffee and cake .
The gentle (for me) Ks help me not to overdo things as my distances increase …….
Committed to myself and some of my run buddies to try B210k a few weeks ago. Have managed to get to week 3 and completed 7k yesterday. Easier than I thought it might be (apart from a steep set of steps followed by an incline that nearly killed me near the end!) I just need to work on slowing down my pace a little more so I can sustain it for longer 🏃♀️🏃♀️
Ohh get you!! Ms 7k!! Well done, that's huge! I was amazed I managed mine, and not looking forward to the 8 this week. I struggle with 5 sometimes lol!
😂 I'm surprised I managed it too...my 5k a couple of days before felt like I'd never run before! If I don't slow my pace down there's no way I'll be making 8. Well done on your 7k...run buddies again!
👍👍👍 yay! I did 4K today - half of which was on a trail! And I’ve been running every other day with my son! So not had a day off. The 4K today was horrible, had to walk briefly a couple of times!!
Have a day off tomorrow before the 8 on wed! - we should finish the 10 around same time too! 🏃♂️🏃♂️🐌
Moved on to W5 of ju-ju-‘s plan but aiming to run 9k this weekend instead of repeating the 8k, cos the 8k went so well. If that works I will go for the 10k the following week, on my 5 month runiversary.
Hoping I’ve not jinxed myself! 😳
Meanwhile, 5k this morning with a PR time and 4k to do on Wednesday. Only posting up the “big ones” here now I’m on Strava.
While the weather’s nice I want to get out of the city at least once a week to run somewhere different. As much as I love my prom, I enjoy running somewhere where I don’t know what is around the corner. It might also involve post run blackberry picking
Whilst enjoying runs of 5k and a bit more at the moment (having stalled at week 4 with a few leg issues)I'm going to re- join the next Juju cohort to keep me motivated and to give me structure.
With some more strengthening exercises I want to reach 10k without shin or calf trouble which started when I got all excited about speed.I've decided to stay off the tarmac as much as possible if I can.
My mind power is too strong for my body though.
I love the buzz everyone generates here and still feel surprised at myself every time I set off.Have fun.
Week 3 of Magic Number. Did the 7k yesterday to get it out of the way (the long runs scare me to death). Completed it ok but still tired 24 hours later. Rest day? I need a rest week!
Posted over on t'other place about how knackered I am, and received some good advice about how perhaps my gym routine is a bit much So I am cutting down slightly and focusing on running. I'm aiming for a 12k this week and I'm hoping that it may be a bit cooler that last week's 21C
