Hello my lovely family....

As some of you know I have gone public & started Ju-Ju’s 10k plan..so this morning was W1R3...as usual, school run complete...I drove into the town centre, parked the car up in the car park next to the canal, the canal was my run of choice this morning as Hidden ran along the canal a couple of weeks ago & it reminded me that I hadn’t done the canal for a while, didn’t want to be slipping in there in the snow!!! I also thought that when I get halfway through my 5.5k run I would turn around & run back..

The morning was absolutely beautiful, the sun was shining on the water & I decided to have a longer warm up, so I took about 8 mins warm up walk...then I started Strava & Relive & off I went at what I thought was a slow & steady pace...I was enjoying myself so much, when Strava told me I’d run 1km I thought I am def going to do this, then, then it said I had done it in 6.29 secs!!! “Holy s***!!! Really????” I said out loud!!! I couldn’t believe it...then, my thoughts turned to Oldfloss ...if I carry on at this pace she will be jumping in her car, driving to Yorkshire to hunt me down & slap my hands!!! So I slowed...to my usual pace, maybe a little bit quicker but not much...my legs, lungs, head, everything was behaving perfectly...I was in ‘The Zone’...no toxic 10, nothing...just me, my music & the beautiful scenery...what a run...honestly..I was in running heaven...when I got half way through I didn’t turn around straight away I just kept on running & running & running...I turned around at about 4.5k I think, I was lost in my run....when I’d finished & I’d actually run 5.5kms I had the biggest smile on my face, a spring in my step & a tear in my eye..I felt like that after some of the runs in C25k...a feeling of disbelief! And a bunch of pb’s thrown in there too, ha ha...??!!!! I’d got a new on for 5k at the park run on Saturday but I knocked 2 minutes off that today, 36 mins!! I’m sure that some of you that can run 12/15+ kms might think I’m a bit soft but this is a real acheivement for me, I really do believe that somewhere inside me is the big 10k...I know not all of the runs will be like this one but today’s has made me look at it differently...after my naughty park run on Saturday if someone had asked me to run another 500 meters I’d have said I couldn’t, I didn’t have anymore in me but today, because ju-ju- kind of said I could....I did!!! Yipeeeeee...!!!

Happy running all xxx

Oh brilliant!! Sounds like a wonderful run and clearly boosted your belief in running 10k. So pleased for you Mummycav :) :)

Thanks Lorijay ....I’ve just seen your post about your cautious step off the IC....glad you felt ok after a nice gentle one, I injured my ankle a couple of weeks ago & that’s exactly what I did...a gentle, short run to test it out & all was ok...but I did a few short runs before I dared to start the 10k plan...week one over for me, I feel so much more confident after today’s blissful run 😊

It certainly was....this is the first time I’ve been able to sit down today & write about it which is probably a good job, I was positively gushing when I got home so my post would’ve been twice as long!! Yawn.....🙄

A run when you're in the zone.....perfect!!! What a great first week of your 10k plan. It's nice to return to a spot you haven't run in a while. Sometimes it can be just the lift you need.

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to SaskAlliecat

It certainly worked for me 😉

Way to go MC.

I think thats the real reason why Sadie has bought new shoes.lol.

All this fondling and love stuff.?

And next a Garmin .lol.

She is trying to leave us all behind.lol.

Wonder what Neil is going to do to keep up.

Maybe he will end with the ASICS? Haha.Wonder what size he is.?

You are doing great.

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Tbae

Ha ha...I know, she certainly means business now...all that fondling has worked for her though...don’t know about the arse muscle poking though?!! I hope it’s loosened her up so she gets the most out of her new babies!! Neil seems to be doing fine, he’s keen too..they’ll both be kitted out in serious gear before long...and yes, a Garmin?!! Now that’s serious!! 😉

Great to hear you enjoyed that, my 5.5k is scheduled for Friday but will be looking out of the gym window for mine, I did my 2.5k as my W1R2 and did some splits, that was hard work! 500m intervals at different paces, onwards and upwards, happy running, oh and used runkeeper for the first time with My Conscience keeping me company

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Berksrover

I read on Sadie-runs post about run keeper so I might give that a go...have never used it...well done on getting so far, I’m starting W2 tomorrow poss by the canal again seeing as it was perfect! Good luck on the 5.5...intervals can be such hard work 😓

Guesty26 profile image
Guesty26Graduate10 in reply to Mummycav

We all have a bad run now n again so just forget it when it happens, you are doing great, you will crack it no problem, best advice given to me was keep it slow and fun, worked for me.

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Guesty26

The scenery made me want to run slowly to take it all in!! 😉

Guesty26 profile image
Guesty26Graduate10 in reply to Mummycav

I try to mix up the runs around lakes, forests, parks etc and keep off roads where poss, beautiful locations in yorkshire, gods own country!!!!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Guesty26

I agree, mixing up the runs is good to keep it alive & stop the monotony, especially on longer runs...Yorkshire is certainly beautiful, make no wonder it’s Gods fav place 😉

Lovely to read this. It sounds like bliss. Now was that you doubting your ability a week ago ;) You'll be just fine. And excellent time too. Rest up now for a day or two.
