Decided to do a long one this morning and set off early enough to avoid the heat (7:00). Similar route to last time - in fact I’ve yet to do the exact same route twice, there’s always some new lane to explore, or extra loop to do!
So another lovely run along shady country lanes in the early morning sunshine. There’s a long stretch that is “road closed” at the moment so I’m taking advantage of the absence of traffic on that bit.
Just like last time I pushed the pace up after I’d done 3k to see if I could better my 5k time, and this time kept that going until the 6k mark, which did the trick - a 5k PB 😎
Then a fairly straightforward second 5k - did try to push it along approaching the end, but there really wasn’t a lot left in the tank. Don’t think I’ll be looking at running further than 10k anytime soon!
And after all that Strava told me the good news and bad news... good news was that the time was a whisker over 1h 10m so I’d trimmed almost 3 minutes off my previous 10k time 😎😁 but the bad news was - disaster! - I was 5 seconds slower than Rip 😱😭 😉
All good stuff, next up will be a shorter run on Wednesday (dare I have a go at intervals again??) and then down to Wales for a golf trip and where I’ll be getting out for a run with one of my sisters for the first time. And also on the agenda this week is GA and new shoes.... so watch this space 😀
