What an awful morning to go for a run as my car door slammed into me when trying to open it! π¨ βοΈ π¨ βYeah doubt Iβll do more than 15minsβ. So off I plod. Driving wind and rain in my face pushing me back. Despite this I was in a happy comfortable pace. π
2km in I turn round and plod down the promenade - actually enjoying it! Ok so I thought 5km is now doable. Hit 5km and still plenty of fuel in the tank. Now for me this is the first time Iβve felt so comfortable at 5km.
Iβm sure todayβs cooler weather helped. But most of all, YOU ALL helped me hit 7km. Your advice of slowing down really helped! And of course Oldfloss from C25k days. π¬
I found my happy pace. So thank you to all you Bridgers!! ππΌππΌππΌ (Sorry for the over excitement!!)
Now I know Iβm ready for Ju-juβs 10K plan!! πͺπΌ
Happy running everyone. x

Fantastic Ripcurl. 7km ! I am full of admiration. Well done you.
I did a run in torrential rain last night. I knew I needed to do one more consolidation run before the 10km plan starts. I loved it and felt strong afterwards. Maybe it's because the weather is cooler, maybe we are getting stronger? My priority is not to get injured as I nervously embark on the 10km plan.
Thanks!! Weather huge factor!! Iβm learning to ignore the pace but just run comfortably. This has boosted my confidence after being on 5k/30 mins runs for a while and feeling so exhausted. Now no more pushing till the plan starts on Saturday (for me) - nice 2.5k. π
Brilliant - well done! I'm trying to ignore pace now too. How's your running watch? I had terrible problems again this morning with Strava - said I'd run 1.5k in 32.30!! Seriously considering a watch to track distance for ju-ju's plan x
Strava only tracked the parts of my run that were next to the roads this morning! I want to get away from thinking about pace but I think it will be a bit difficult to do the plan without a reliable method for tracking distance. Which one have you got?x
Good god, Ripcurl, that is amazing! Well done! I accidentally did a 7k last week, and was so surprised at how do-able it was. (But still worrying about doing it again at the weekend!)
So good that this has given you a confidence boost to start the 10k plan. You will smash it, I am sure! Happy running.
How do you change your pace Ripc? I seem to average the same pace, no matter what I do. I don't get faster except when going downhill and I don't get slower unless I'm going uphill.
Hmmm.. not sure. Today I was running with a fellow C25k graduate and she runs a bit slower so she kept my pace down. Otherwise I go my βotherβ pace a bit faster on my own but tire by close to 5k. Iβm certainly not speedy! Today my heart rate was low and held a conversation well.
I might try counting. Sometimes, I count: 1 bup 2 bup 3 bup 4. (Not as fast as Laura's 1 - 2 - 3 - 4). I could try 1 buh-up, 2 buh-up, 3 buh-up, 4. I'll give it a go for my first 5.5 or 6 km.
Thatβs a good plan . Leave a day in between running . I hope ju ju plan accounts for park run cos I love mine and donβt really want to stert missing it .
Thanks David! Certainly was blowy - but actually preferred it to the humidity and scorching sun. I too race off a bit which I think is fine for shorter runs. Good luck with all your runs too. ππΌπ
Well done Ripcurlrana - 7k! πThere's no chance of me catching you up now...... What a lovely place to run too; nice and flat and by the sea. π¬π
Ha ha thanks Ian! It was completely unintentional. Plus you are setting the targets and Iβm trying to meet them. π You win as mine was a flat run yours was more challenging!
We are now all in it as a team. Look forward to a short jaunt tomorrow as run 1. π Id wish you luck but know you wonβt need it!
