Pain. That is how I would describe my first post holiday 10k . Pain.🤣🤣

Been in Turkey for 2 weeks, bloody hot ( 38 degrees by 9am) and bloody glorious, thoroughly recommend to anyone , anyhow this is not that forum...

I managed to do a couple of runs on my holidays , the hotel had a running machine, I only did 4 , 5ks ( I was on holiday give me a break) what a really weird experience?!?...

Took me a few goes to work out how to use it , gym was unstaffed and no one else spoke English or seemed willing to share...Loved how you could set the pace at say 1k at 6min or whatever , I can imagine it is an amazing tool for building stamina and learning pace, I’m envious I don’t have one . I shoved the speed up to a 1k in 5 mins on one occasion ( just to play, my PB is 1k in 00:05:40...) hung in there to do it , and then LITERALLY hung onto the handle with one hand to try and slow the bloody thing thing down before I flew of the end ...🤦🏻‍♂️😂🤣🤣 only just managed to avoid a classic comedy sketch disaster.

Only massive draw back is they all faced these massive mirrors and it somewhat shatters the illusion of what I think I look like running in my head ( think Matt Damon in Bourne films or Tom cruise in mission impossible ) the reality was horrific and bile producing and I spent every second trying to look anywhere other then my own , frankly, mortifying appearance 🤣🤣🤦🏻‍♂️

So we got back Sunday and today I set out to try and get some sort of revenge on myself for the alcohol and food gluttony ( it was all inclusive ) and wow! Yeah...it weren’t pretty.. I was happy with my 5k split ( it weren’t great but acceptable) and then just gradually hit a wall at every k after that...gritted teeth and stubbornness essentially dragging me over the line. The time was a good 10 minutes over my usual so a lot of work needed to repair damage

Slightly annoyed with myself as I know the level I was at before the holiday but I think a couple of weeks back on diets and “sensible” 😱 behaviour I’ll be ok..but on the other hand , we only get one go on this fairground people , gotta have some good times ( and by good times i mean poolside mojitos by 10am 😉)

Take care guys

So funny.😂😂

Your right got to enjoy it all and have a laugh.

Your doing great and soon will be back into your happy place too.🌟👏👏

This did make me laugh! Reminds me of sailing past a shop window feeling like a carefree nymph with the wind in my hair and wondering who the strange old thing was keeping pace with me

Mojito s at 10am seems worth a little bit of pain. I’m sure you ll be back on form soon enough . Hey I’m sure even Mo and Paula have the odd holiday . Enjoy getting back on track soon enough.
