Week 2 = Done ✅

Well... another one in the bag!

I went off for my 6k run to complete week 2 this morning, I have to say it was already too hot, but I bravely pressed on :P

I tried to be a bit wiser and deliberately run at a more gentle pace, although a bit like Sadie the other day, I had trouble reducing my speed, but I did manage to keep the whole thing to an average of 7:17/km, which I’m happy with, though I will still need to slow down a bit if I’m to hit 10k.

Plenty of dog walkers to avoid, a few other runners, going the other way thankfully. It’s a bit awkward when I pass a walker just before I have to turn around, and then pass them again about 30 seconds later going the other way. Oh well!

I was certainly in need of a shower when I got back! But a good run, although I’m very aware of how much work I still have to do... still, onwards and forwards :D

Yes, strangely I really am. I must have had a personality transplant or something. Whatever it is, bring it on!

Yay you did it! Well done Neil. And who would have thought that we would ever be struggling to slow down?! And how weirdly hard it is?! Madness.

You have caught up with me now. We are both starting week 3 next week! I am doing the first one tomorrow - either 3.5k or 5k - not decided yet.

Have a relaxing day, you have earned it!

Sadie x

I know! The problem for me is that I was working to do 5k in 30 minutes, so it’s a bit of a reversal now, though I suspect by the end of this, if I ever get there, I’ll be close on that for a 5k pace anyway. As my next run is in the middle of the working week, I’m going for the short one!!

All the best for your run tomorrow. Don’t get too giddy now!!

Very well done! I can only dream of having trouble reducing my pace, ( unless I jog on the spot😂).

I have that cringe moment passing the same walkers twice within 30 seconds too! Sometimes I change route slightly to avoid it. 😀

what Elfe5 said!

in reply to Elfe5

I don’t run particularly fast though, but I do sometimes try to push myself, as seeing regular improvement does help me overcome the doubts etc.

As for the other walkers, to be honest, I’m past caring! :P

in reply to

your slow is my fast!

in reply to

Hey we all know speed doesn’t matter, the important thing is that you’re out there, you know, being awesome!! Oh - and the things you post on here are really encouraging too, just thought I’d add that in ;)

in reply to

You’re very sweet. And no, speed doesn’t matter, except running faster is more enjoyable and exhiliarating - I remember it from my youth 😉

in reply to

Haha, it’s true though, you’re always very positive!

I remember hating any kind of physical exercise in my youth. I clearly remember coming home from my first day at school, aged 4, asking my mum why all the children were being silly and running round the playground. If only I could have discovered running when I was young...

in reply to

Well, I certainly wouldn’t consider myself sporty, in fact I hate sport. But in my youth I rode, cycled, walked everywhere, ran, canoed. I am, however, a couch potato

Thanks Jan, we’re getting there aren’t we? I know I’m nowhere near 10k, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I may actually manage it!!
