Despite being up half the night with a cough and the heat, I still got up at 5:45am for my planned run. Lack of sleep and a slight cold will not stop this gal! (Though I had planned to stop if I felt dreadful). I did the short run (3k) of week 2 of the 10k plan though, knowing I would be running on half empty. And you know, it was okay. I even quite enjoyed it, and weirdly, the cough abates when I am running. Rivers of sweat, mind you – rivers! It is still pretty humid in London. I am hoping I have sweated this cold out...
Happy Monday, y'all. I think I might fall asleep at my desk today.

Well done Sadie great determination from you, a run seems to sort out a few things when your a bit poorly, ysed ut myself. You should sleep tonight 😴😴😴
Thanks Guesty! Running has shown me that I can be resilient and persistent – things i never would have associated with myself before. And "should sleep tonight"? I am pretty much asleep now…zzzzzzzzzz and I should be working. This afternoon is going to be "challenging" to say the least!
The fittest male in our gym, pensioner ex., London Marathon championship runner , no impact stuff now, 90-120 minutes everyday , they need to really connected him to the plumbing, rivers everyday , winter or summer , for five years now.🙈😂😂.
Hi Tbae, I notice that you have been following some of my posts, just to update you, this morning I completed week 7 run 3 round Milngavie reservoir, I have visited that place since I was a little boy way back in the 1950's, walked around the reservoir more than a hundred and one times during the years since, usually takes about 35 minutes, but this morning, history was made, I ran week 7 run 3 around that reservoir in exactly 20 minutes, felt great, the only problem was that there was a light drizzle and it blurred my glasses a bit, otherwise I felt very happy.
Yes went on a trip to the zoo there in the late 40’s early 50’s, just a kid, standing to close the chimp cage and one got a hold of my hair, never been back since.🙈😂😂😂
Yes Tbae, if I remember I think there was some sort of zoo at a place called Mugdockbank way back in the late 40's or early 50's, I was 4 in 1950, but I think you are a little older than me and can remember a zoo being there, there is now a country park at Mugdock but certainly no zoo.
Keep going, there is no point in stopping Al. Take all the pleasure that it gives you.
I think this running malarkey is all about one step back to gain two forward,🤔 not two forward and end up with three back.TOO fast TOO quick. When you are a snail Al ,you just got to have laugh . 🌟🏃♂️👏👏👍
Thank you Tbae, I will keep you up to date for the final two weeks of my running journey with C25K, I don't run too fast or too slow, perhaps a little quicker than a snail, I have an app which tells me exactly my time on a measured 5k course, part of that course I ran, then cycled on my bike and finally walked, the calorie count for my run on Saturday was 233 I walked the same distance this afternoon after my run this morning and a rest, my calorie count for the walk was 236, the run was 25 minutes, the walk was 40 minutes, perhaps that is why I used 3 more calories in the 15 minute longer walk than the run.
Hi Tbae, just an update about my latest run this morning, today 11th June I completed run 3 of week 8, I always choose somewhere for that 3rd run away from where I live, this time it was along the Forth Walkway in Stirling with great views of Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument and the Scottish Highlands in the distance, no problems with the run and I am looking forward to Wednesday for the start of my final week, 3/30 minute runs.
Thank you Tbae, I think I mentioned before that the present Smartphone I have is not compatible with new apps, so what I do is to listen to Laura on my Laptop before I go out on a run and remember everything she says. My Smartphone does have a timer so I know exactly where I am on any run. Basically, if I splash out £300 for a new phone it really amounts to £300 for 1 app. My present phone is perfect in every other way, it's just not got the memory, unlike my always updating laptop for the new apps that are out now. I am looking forward to the start of my 3/30 minute runs of week 9, the first and second will be done locally around the loch to where I live, the third, next Monday 18 June I am planning to run along the promenade at Helensburgh on the Clyde coast.
13/6/2018. Just to tell you Tbae that I completed Run 1 of week 9 this morning, the first 30 minute one that I have done. I was very happy when I finished, my pace was a little faster than that of run 3 of week 7, it averaged 07.13km as against 08.00km in the 25-minute final week 7 run. I am not too concerned with the pace I do, that slightly faster pace might just be to do with a natural quicker pace due to all the running I have been doing. So it's on to run 2 and 3 next Saturday and Monday respectively.
You are correct Tbae, I was thinking that as well, if I had been on a 5k I calculated that at that pace I would have been about 36 minutes for a 5k. I admit the last 3 or 4 minutes I went a little faster than the rest of the run, my app says that I averaged 07.13/km per minute. I'll tell you the exact pace it says on my not so new app. First k:-07.02...Second K:-07.23..Third K:-07.49...Fourth K:-06.45 and the final 150 metres for the full 30 minutes it says was 06.24/km.
They say a storm is coming tomorrow Thursday, although I won't be running I have told others here on C25k to run with the wind behind them, that way they could run really fast being pushed along by the gale.
Good afternoon Tbae, I completed R2W9 of C25K this afternoon (16/6/) between 1.50 and 2.20. I enjoyed that run as it is the penultimate run of C25K, I only met a family and they called out to me to 'slow down', in fact, I was not running all that fast today, I did not have my timer with me, only my normal watch for start and finish. So it's on to my final graduation run on Monday which I have been planning for during the last 8 weeks, you know the promenade at Helensburgh on the Clyde coast. What I plan to do is start my run at the pierhead and run along the prom for 20 minutes towards Rhu on the Gairloch, do a U-turn and run the final 10 minutes back to Helensburgh.
Ah - well done you! I still can’t believe we are now calling 3k a “short” run!!! Keep at it, you’re doing great. Take care of yourself, and you get that cough better, ok?
I know! It's madness! When I woke up this morning feeling rough, I genuinely thought to myself, "it's only 3k, I can manage that with a cold fine". I no longer recognise myself.
And thanks. Early to bed tonight; I really have to knock this cold on the head!
Thanks Sadie! Yes, all is reasonably good thanks I’m up early tomorrow... going to try this next run before work. The work route has some gentle hills, which I think will be good for me
Oh, well done. You could so easily have bottled out. I think so eone else mentioned feeling better with a cold once they started running x
Thanks Flick. Funny how the coughing stopped the minute I started running! I am so glad I got out and did it, but shall be having a very early night tonight! xxx
