Starting JuJu's 10k plan πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Hello lovely runners!

So - tomorrow morning, early, marks the official start of my quest to reach the illusive 10k mark. I'm delighted that my friend Sadie-runs is going to do the plan at the same time, it'll be just like old C25K days again :)

I'm doing the first 2.5k run before work tomorrow. As the last run I did was 6.5k, I'm going to be very careful not to get too giddy, set off like a rocket, and tire myself out after 100m. I am, however, going to use the C25k+ speed podcast, as I think it's probably about the right length for the run, and I really appreciate having the structure.

I shall report back of course, not that you probably need to hear another tale of "Ooh I just ran 2.5k, aren't I fantastic??!" but more because it's good to be accountable with these things, and I value your support, advice and encouragement. I've come from a place of never having run before C25k, this time last year I could not have run for 30 seconds probably, and being on the C25k forum has been amazing, hence why I'm here on bridge.

Take care everyone, happy running, and Sadie? I'm coming for you!!!!!

Good luck with Ju ju's 10 is the Magic number plan Neil. You and Sadie will do it I'm sure.

I pinned the run chart up on the fridge so I could tick off the runs as I did them..😊x

Thank you :) Well the first (short) run has gone fine, so in the words of Mr Jeremy Clarkson: how hard can it be?!

πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ I shall be out there myself, Neil, doing the 2nd run of the week. A very slow 5k or if I’m in the mood, the 5.5k. No doubt you will catch me up! Happy running!

in reply to Sadie-runs

Very good Sadie :) How did yours go? Did you accidentally keep going to 10k? :D

Good luck! I really enjoyed Ju ju’s plan! It’s great having a bit of structure! I pinned my chart to my notice board and coloured in the wee boxes as I completed runs!! Was like being back at school! πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Thanks Sarah, I think personally, I need all the support I can get. Sadie's already sent me a copy of her version of the chart. I haven't *actually* printed it yet, but I shall do so when i get home :D

Good luck. I think I did the same as you plan, ie did the speed podcast for the first few weeks short runs. I did the shorter version of ju-jus plan ie the 6 wk one, but did it in 5(many do as it's hard to run 9k and not just run the extra bit)

in reply to pinkaardvark

Thank you pinkaardvark ! I didn't even know there was a shorter version. I'm thinking of ditching the speed podcast in favour of some fixed-tempo generic running musak next time!

Yeah, it used to be 6 weeks but I think a few repeat weeks were added as infill as a lot of people like to tackle it that way, just progress at the speed you feel comfortable at and you will get there fine, it's a good plan. I think I only did the speed podcast a few times. As a tall runner 6'3" with a long stride i'm actually going quite quick at 150bpm so trying to get me running at 170bpm or whatever that gets upto meant I was trying to run at 20min 5k speed which wasn't fun lol. So they are definitely not for everyone.
