Good morning everyone and I hope your enjoying this fab weather!
So as you all know I getting back into this running malarkey since being on the IC with injured ankle. I have to say it’s taking a while. However the improvement has been great and it’s a joy to run without the pain and having to stop to limp home ha!.
This morning didn’t go far but managed just over and I mean just over! 4k. Beautiful breeze, birds singing and everything else that is a feel good factor about the summer.🌞☀️
My time wasn’t too bad either I don’t think. I was hoping to get 5k in under the 40min mark but didn’t get there. Perhaps the next time. Trouble is the hills there’s just too many of them so tried to steer away from them ha! My aim now is to enter an autumn 10k in October. So any advice will gratefully received thank you.😀😀
Thank you! After posting I checked the date in Oct. Its the 20th and low and behold as I’ve started working weekends (NHS) its one of the weekends that I’m working. Anyway I shall see if I can swap with a colleague if not I’ll have to find another 10k.
Thank you Flick ! I’ve been back a while but I don’t post very often now. But I still follow and you are doing great from what I read. Your going miles !
Hope your well Flick!😀😀

Ah, going miles but not very fast! Still, i am running hills and not stopping or walking (except for the odd photo soemtimes) - though you have hills and are faster. But Im an old duck so dont expect to make up much speed now before I finally snuff it 😂😂😂

Well I’m trying to avoid some of the hills which there are places that are flattish but I fear that I will have to incorporate the hills again as I Run further. Hee! hee! hark at me and my Paula Radcliffe image ....I don’t think🤣🤣.
Anyway I think your doing great!
As I am working more hours now I can only really get out about twice a week.So making progress once again will be taking longer. This is only till next August 2019 though when I shall retire from work and this will enable me to run more days yippee!
Happy running Flick and take carexx😀😀

I am retired so am able to run four times a week (hope to increase that after ive been running a year, but we shall see),. You take care, keep well and keep running xxx
Welcome back off the IC Peggy. Whoop whoop! Those ankle injuries are a pain as there's little blood supply and they take ages to heal. I've got a problem with both ankles atm and I just know it's going to take a fair few weeks probably ☹️
Definitely go for the 10K, it's a great distance and running in a race is such a fabulous experience. If you aren't yet running at that distance then a good place to start is Ju-Ju's plan here. Just work your way through the weeks and take it at your own pace. Enjoy it and just make sure there's bling for the race 🙂
Thanks IP ! The race that I wanted to do in Oct I now can’t as after posting I had a light bulb moment and discovered from diary that that weekend I’m working. However I’ll try to swap it if no joy I shall look for another race.
I was nearly at completion of ju ju's 10k when the ankle injury became a house guest. So I shall restart it again at some point.Sorry to hear about your ankles. Your right it takes ages. I spoke to one of our ortho surgeons that I work along side and he told me it’s a long process. 6 weeks if not longer. I’m just easing my way back into it.
Anyhoo! Take care IP oh and tiger balm is good, smelly but good hee! hee!
You'll build up again fairly easily then. And thanks for the Tiger Balm tip. I will try that. I've used Olbas Oil which is good for joint pain, etc and I guess they are similar. It just smells as if I have a cold all the time ☹️
