First 10k race..... loved it 😎🏃🏃

I did my first 10k race at the Oxford Town & Gown. A good few thousand turned out on a gloriously sunny morning, they certainly got the forecast wrong but who cares it made for a brilliant day 😎

Running passed colleges, a lake and the Thames made for an idyllic setting, beautiful for those new to the area.

I jogged round at a comfortable pace, albeit slightly outside my first 10k...I’ll put that down to the warmer conditions, and actually sprinted to the finishing line...I liked that 🤗

Collected my bling and T Shirt with a big grin on my face.

Some serious training now for the GNR in September 😊

Thanks Jan, not sure about not over straining though.....my Garmin was going into melt down telling me HR was too high and at the end telling me that was tougher than usual 😂

That's a very good time Ted. My daughter did it in an hour and three and three quarter minutes, so similar time and she's younger. You've both done brilliantly.

Getting a lot of pesky insect bites on my legs....got one yesterday and it’s really swollen 😖

Ouch! Our route from work takes in a fair amount of woodland tracks and I too have been bitten. Getting a mouthful of insects is also very unpleasant!

Thanks FPF, I felt good but had to take a short walk break towards the end, my legs were having none of it and yet I sprinted the last 200mts.... fast twitch muscle fibres kicking in me thinks 😊
