My last twelve months of running have been pretty rubbish for a variety of reasons - not all of my own making. But I'm ready to get going again.

This morning Lovely Laura and I did Couch to 5k Week 1 Run 1, but UPHILL, and then I (mostly) ran home again. I'm looking forward to seeing if that works as an idea. Has anyone else tried that?

Even at my best (when I was able in March 2017, just, to run 10 miles) I have always avoided hills. I could show you any number of running routes around my home town which pretty much avoid going uphill! That's the old me though. :)

Now I am looking for routes with long slow hills that I can use for the C25k plan. I'm prepared to repeat weeks if I have to but want to give this a shot. Will keep you posted!

Yay go you. Pleased to hear this. Have missed your posts.

Living near the top of a hill and in Derbyshire hills are not an option😀. My flats are gradual incline/declines on old railway lines. Just take them slowly, is there any other way😄? And take small steps, it really helps.

Lovely to hear from you Annedroid :) Running is like life- good years and bad ones, highs and lows, speedy rushing around and long slow contemplation... So running up and down hills has got to be a plan... You have loads more experience than me of course but whenever I have run hills, I can't say I have liked it but it's never been as bad as I expected and enormously satisfying. So yes- Go for it :)

Definately make hills your friends - they really do make you stronger! EArlier this year I vowed to run one particular hill whenever my route went near (there are ways to avoid it!) .This has led on to me tackling others and finally realising that I can do them...albeit slowly😮!

This sounds like a brilliant plan Anne, will be interested to see how your stamina improves...oh and everyone forgives a little breather when you need it with hills involved😉xx

Thanks folks. I did Week 1 Run 2 yesterday up the same hill and ran home afterwards without a walk break which I had the previous time. My plan for tomorrow morning is to do Week 1 Run 3 on a steeper hill! If I manage that, I'll go on to Week 2 next week. If I don't I'll repeat it till I can do it.

I am loving having a plan to follow and feel that my head (which is always a bigger problem for me than my legs and even than my asthmatic lungs!) is in a better place at last. :)
