Who goes slowly, goes safely and far

An old Italian proverb, which applies to my occasional form of running (just) which I call “bimbling”.

• At 6-7km/hr it’s a tad faster than a brisk walk.

• It’s certainly a conversational pace.

• You can certainly keep to 4:4 breathing except for the steepest inclines.

• Hills hold no terror (this run was a six hill one).

• You can run for longer and not get back home wreck.

• I just kept up a cadence of 130 spm which is my knackered cadence at the end of a very long run which usual starts at 150-160.

Any other bimblers out there?

Depends what you call a 7-8k pace? or even a 9 something i pace, much slower than your bimbling but still running and if i slow down a bit to 10 pace can keep going for 10k Sounds like a very enjoyable run

Oh it is enjoyable. That’s 6-7 km/hr so 9-10 min/km. Gazelles fly past me. Good on them!

That’s ok then😀I find when someone runs past me I use them as a pacer for as long as I can and lately can keep up fir longer but live just joggling along at my easy pace

Phew! Good to get the figures clarified. I was thinking to myself, boy, this is one blithe ‘bimbler’...

Love that word. Bimbling 👍

My bimbling pace varies depending on the terrain. Somewhere around 7-8 min/km seems to be about right for me as an "I feel I can run for hours like this" speed, based on my last two long runs.

You’re a Superbimbler. That’s about my Parkrun pace when I’m trying. I watched a YouTube video on running slowly. The presenter said he slows down to 5min/km. How I laughed. 😹

Ha! I've decided that tomorrow I'm going to try to exorcise the demon run that ended with me picking up an ankle injury back at the end of August.

I'm going to re-run the course that I did my initial graduation run on, but from the perspective of my current fitness level.

Back then I did 5km in exactly 30 minutes. I'm going to see how it goes now, but without pushing for any target speed. It starts with the straight I did the speed challenges on, and I'm going to have to restrain myself when doing that.

🙋🏻‍♀️

My very fastest 1km was 7:54, during a 20 minute run. Usually somewhere between 8:50 to 9:50 😊🐌🐢🏃🏻‍♀️

If I were able to bimble at that speed HF I’d be delighted! I’m a keen bimbler myself but much slower!

Then you are nominated Bimbler Supreme 😁
