I really enjoyed it π it started much slower than i would have liked as there were so many people & despite the rain it was a good atmosphere & definately something i would like to do on a regular basis π
It was quite good for my self confidence in a few ways & my worries about finishing last were quickly laid to rest.
Well done πππββοΈβΊοΈ Itβs a blast.,
Do be sure to volunteer! Tail runner is a good one as thatβs where the stories are. I say of it, βthe back of the pack is where itβs atβ π. If you volunteer you get more of what itβs all about.
Itβs not even really about running either is it? At the back, where the stories are, you get to hear why folks pitch up each week. To overcome illness, for rehabbing injuries, to go a walk with others, to lose weight, to get mobile
Itβs just brilliant when you see everyone move forward en masse - from the elites to the blind peeps, to those on crutches, sticks, the parent with the pushchair, the dog runners, the youngsters, the old uns, the fit, the unfit, theyβre all there. I just love to observe the start. Itβs better than medicine. Some of the volunteers do so every week and are not runners themselves, so big up to them π
Whoohoo! That's great Claire. I'm glad it was a good experience and a much needed boost. It'll be nice to have something to look forward to each week and a great way to meet some like minded people ππ
Well done Claire! Letβs face it, your pace is too quick for you ever to have been last! Love the pic too. I have parkrun envy. The nearest one from me is many miles. What did you do about the headphones in the end? X ππ»ππ»π ππππ¦π¦π¦

Thankyou Flick π i just put my earphones in because there were many others that did too...& i could tell i wouldnt be "chatting" on the way round if you know what i mean π maybe once i get used to it & get to know a few familiar faces i will be able to give them a miss π
Well done ! I have been thinking of joining my local park run for months but something or some excuse has been stopping me
Usually after a busy week at work I just love an easy lazy Saturday morning. I got the barcodes printed and I even laminated them ! So I am going to try and do it next Saturday . Thank you
I meant to do it several weeks ago...then illness & snow happened...& i was kind of nervous for some weird reason!!!but it was really good...i highly recommend it π there were so many people there & a nice atmosohere.go for it & let us know how you get on π
It took me over 12 months to pluck up the courage to go. I wish i had started when i first thought of it....parkrun is fab. Go for it, even if you decide to speedwalk i am sure that you will enjoy it.
The first of many, Hidden , Iβm sure! Very well done π Nothing like seeing your name there with all the others and knowing that youβve got a benchmark to work to. Iβve done six Parkruns now and it has been a completely positive experience, with a bit of volunteering thrown into the mix! But donβt forget your barcode - I left mine behind one week and was so disappointed not to get a timing. But Iβve got the excuse of extreme old age, π€ͺπ. Enjoy and happy running ππ»ββοΈ ππ½π !!!
Absolutely π i am looking forward to.the next one for sure.hoping to do better but that will mean starting in a slightly different place.its all a great experience & would be nice to volenteer too π
Start those PBs rolling in, Hidden !! I usually hang back and join the tailenders as I am a slow runner, especially as the fast guys and gals take off at a rate of knots. You can always join In their slipstream! Lol!! I find too that If I can slot in behind someone who is a good pacesetter I beat my PB, so have managed to do that each time so far.
Parkrun sell little plastic barcodes that fit on your keyring and they also sell little rubber armbands with the barcode printed on it. They are not too expensive either.
I also remember seeing an article about somebody who got their barcode tattooed
That sounds like a good idea Theziggy ! The key ring barcodes and the armbands I mean, not the tattooing, lol. Takes the no pain, no gain to another level, doesnβt it ππ¬!
Mmmm @NiceBloke donβt know that the volunteers would be too enthusiastic about scanning those barcodes, especially with my smelly feet, π·π€§π€£ so I have invested in a lightweight running jacket with zip up pockets where I leave my barcode and stash my car keys and some cash for a well-earned coffee afterwards! The Parkrun is a reward at the end of the week, so I would recommend it to anyone considering giving it a go!
Brilliant, well done! Most of all i am glad you were feeling up to it - hopefully you have well and truly shaken off that lingering lurgy by now. Great photo too. x
Thankyou π still not feeling well but much better than i was so hoping to be feeling back to normal soon...whatever normal actually is ππ€£ hope things with you are ok xx
