Had a great Keswick Parkrun surrounded by hordes of visitors to the Lakes.
No idea of times and pace as the new Garmin Forerunner started an update at the exact (9am) instant the start hooter went, so I could not get it to go, and when it did finally start several minutes later it totally failed to record a route. Not best friends with Garmin today. Must find out how to stop the damned watch doing upgrates when it wants.
I wasn't last. I think my pace was around 7.5/Km as usual.
Edit: I got the results through:

Well done oldfellow! I love Parkrun. Did my third one this morning too in Chichester. First one with my new Garmin and luckily it didn’t update as yours did! There must be some way of stalling the update.
Glad you managed to get out and join in, whatever your Garmin decided to get up to! If you took your barcode with you then they should email you your accurate time sometime this morning (we’re still waiting for ours today). 😃👍🏃♀️🏃♂️❤️
I could have gone to the local cafe and met the regulars, but as the council have closed the local public loo, I was in a bit of a hurry to get home...
I'll have to wait for that email, and then check out the standings in the results charts. I'm not at all competitive (he lied).
That was my problem after my first Parkrun too! (I’m learning to drink less before setting off on our drive to the park now.) It’s sad, but me and husband have not done anything useful yet this morning, and are both wandering around peering at our phones saying “The results are late this week...” So, no, we’re not at all competitive either!! 😂😂😂
I’ve just resigned myself to the fact that even if I compete only with myself and get a new PB every week, my husband is still always going to finish about 5 mins faster than me! 🙄😃❤️
I spent some effort on Friday making sure I was well hydrated, but it was the pre-run coffee that did for me. When I run at 5:30 the coffee comes after I get home...
We were out for a big meal for our wedding anniversary late last night, so this morning I didn’t want to eat at all. But, although I normally run at 7amish on an empty stomach, for my last 2 Parkruns I’ve got up and eaten porridge at 7am, giving it 2 hrs to digest before the 9am run start. Perhaps that would work for you if you need coffee before too? (Or 1hr before if it’s only fluids?) Just need to give it time to go through your system before setting off...
They played your theme tune while we were out for dinner. I’d never even realised the correct words were supposed to be “come on Eileen”, so I’ve learnt something new! 😂
I’ve lived with that song for a long time. We actually played the first instrumental part of it before my bridal entrance music, which raised a few titters.
Actually it is along the old railway, a nice footpath, and only gentle rise and fall. Well within the reach of any C25K graduate, I would think. If you want a hard run the nearby (4 miles west) Whinlatter Parkrun will probably kill off that urge!
Ooh I’m just about to pick up a Garmin Forerunner from JL today so I will probably be on here asking lots of questions in due course.
Glad you enjoyed the Parkrun In Keswick. I should imagine there’s a few hills there. We’re going up to the Lakes in August but not for the Saturday so that’s a shame. Keep running 🏃♂️
I am already addicted. I said to my wife that I was annoyed that I had to wait a whole week before doing it again! And age weighted at 47.48% is like a red rag.
I looked at this but tbh it doesn’t account for terrain, just elevation, and I think some look flatter than others that look hilly yet are ranked as harder. Anyway it’s a rough guide
One of the toughest 5K runs in the USA is on the flat (I think) in a city. I think it's the constant changes of direction that make it hard. That and the temperature and humidity. Oh! and the the competitiveness of the runners. The pictures tell all.
Roughly a percentage of the world record in your sex and age group. So I am somewhat less than half the speed of the world record holder at 5K of men in the 65-69 age bracket. It doesn't take anything else into account - gradients, conditions, surface, etc.. So it's only a very general guide.
I'm astounded that Keswick is considered tough. It's 351st on @Tasha99's list. OK it's a long slow gentle 2.5k up, and then a lovely 2.5k gently down again. Thank you for the pat on the back. It means the world to me to have you guys on my side.
