Tight chest

I had horrible flu before and during Xmas and that led into a chest infection that I finished antibiotics for a week ago. I’ve been running moderately but have noticed a tightness and shortness of breath for a few days after a run.

I did 10K yesterday which felt soooo hard despite being a moderate pace and using walk intervals for the second 2k... and again today have a really tight chest and short of breath... is it time to get back to the docs or just ease off?

I’ve got “Run the River” 10K in a few weeks and the BM10k so really could do without ending up on the ic ☹️

Sorry you have been so unwell. Obviously I'm no expert but it would sound premature to be running 10k if your chest still doesn't feel right. If I were you I'd either stop or greatly reduce your running until you've seen the doctor again - maybe stick to brisk walking or slow, fairly short runs while you rehabilitate and stop if you are not feeling great, and take extra care in cold air.

I don't think there is any harm in a follow-up to check that all is ok, as chest infections can take a while to recover from fully. Hope you feel better soon.

No! No running! Until chests cleared or you really risk putting yourself in danger of pnuemonia and a strain on ticker! If it doesn't start clearing soon see the doc..

You’re confirming my thoughts, looks like I need to listen to you guys (and my better half) and take another break and get back to the docs.... you’re all far too sensible 😂

I’ll stick to walks on the ‘mill for now.

Go back to the GP asap, sounds like the infection hasnt yet cleared,

No running, rest up and look after yourself. Do this now and you may make that event 🤞🏼
