...Which I generally think is cheating a bit. But I couldn’t find my Garmin - it was moved out of the way of the grandsprockets on Boxing Day! - and it was a Canicross evening with stopping and starting to be expected, so I chose the easy option.
I’m glad I did because we spent roughly ten minutes standing in a car park after one of our number, who’s just coming back after an injury, decided it would be better if she stopped and phoned someone to fetch her. It was lovely to look up and be able see Orion overhead in the clear night sky as we chatted, if a little chilly, with frost underfoot.
I think I wasn’t the only one to find it hard to get going again after that as our pace really did drop off on the last 3k, not that that matters.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve nothing against it, it just doesn’t really work for me. My regular running buddy has hers on all the time. When we ran the Maverick Sussex last year it autopaused on every step of a steep set of stairs that we had to negotiate. I say negotiate as I was basically holding her dog back from dragging her down the entire flight in its enthusiasm. 😃
