Apologies for the late posting, it's been a busy week! Welcome to the third week of the new quest. So as we move to the colder end of the year with darker days and beautiful autumnal colours let's embrace the opportunities it brings and set some new goals for the month.

What the quest is:-

The quest takes one month . You can join any time within those weeks.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

I ask that you will be a graduate to join the quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put:

I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............

Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the quest until the end.

At the end there will be a certified cate you can download to keep.

Wishing you a happy healthy week

Realfoodieclub, Ju-Ju and Oldfloss

Xxx

Hello there, I'm planning on doing my first 10k run tomorrow or Sunday depending on when I can fit it in with the family arrangements. Getting nervous and excited already! I'd better go and plan a route....

Not a bad seven days with my Quest goals

I've managed 2 swims in the second week which tots up to 1.25kms of my 2km goal. I was especially proud of the first one as all sorts of things got in my way and when I finally made it to the pool I couldn't find my goggles. Nearly threw my teddy out of the pram at that point, but decided to carry on without them. Since then I have some very cool indeed new goggles with reptile eyes (says 6-14 years on them but they fit) which are also much better than my old ones. That and a walkway being fixed added up to 10 more lengths that session so that's great.

I was very chuffed to pull myself together and get out to do a Poppy Run 5K (which means I should be getting a second bit of bling)

As for the yoga, I've not done an online class but I have made loads of progress back towards a daily practice, probably 4 or 5 out of 7 days.

Best wishes to all other Questers and hope not too much hurdling to do to progress towards your goals.

Zoggs Sea Demon. I was like a big kid. (Which made up for my inability to put my dress on the right way round when getting dressed again... was almost out of the building before I realised and yes, it was rather obvious)

The only thing of note was the Wednesday run that nearly wasn't!

The previous day I had uploaded my new Audiofuel tracks to my mp3 player, having removed some non-running music first to make space.

So I set off, did my warm up walk to the top of the road and switched on my mp3 ready to start my 168bpm track. Well, that was the plan - the player switched off straight away, strange because I know it was fully charged. Try again - a brief message to say it is full delete something, then it switched off.

What to do? Go back and sort it out? No - run without music. Shouldn't be a problem as I never have music on a parkrun and often when on holiday I prefer to run with the scenery rather than follow a beat.

But I wasn't psyched up for it on my regular route.

So I decided to try out the Run/Walk feature on my Garmin. It was easy to set up so off I went. I hadn't switched on the sound had to keep checking it but it went well.

I made it a short run, about 3K but it was a good one.

Just wondering whether to make an early start on ju-ju's 10K programme, especially as I have realised it is likely to go to pot in mid December with other things likely to disrupt my usual schedule. I have parkrun tomorrow, then we are going to London for a couple of days so I will miss my Monday run. I will decide on Wednesday.

How frustrating about the music, and no harm in starting a 10k plan, you can be ahead of the game 😎

Happy questing folks! As young mr grace would say, β€œyou’re all doing very well” πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘.

I have just got my sticky little mitts on a new yoga dvd πŸ“€. Ooooooh go me

Those zoggs goggles sound fab ! I have a couple of their costumes. Like them very much! πŸ‘

Not done much mileage this week, just a few jogs round the streets, ready for the biggie on Sunday

After that training continues as I have a ten K race early December and all sorts lined up in spring. Coming your way Googleme to do tunnels race πŸ™‚

Bit of a naff week for me - oh, except that I got a 5K PB :) I hurled myself down the Trail (yes, okay, it was downhill) for my Remembrance Day Virtual Run, thinking all the way that I couldn't keep this up - and then thinking that actually, yes, I could push a bit harder because I bet all those poor people in the war thought they couldn't do it any more either - and I managed to knock one and a bit minutes off my previous PB :) Down to 32:10 so I'm very pleased with that.

And now I have a streaming cold and my toenail is falling off :( :( :( - bah! Next week will be better!

I'd say a new PB is pretty fabulous,... well done and I'm sorry about the toenail. I lost 2 from the Exmoor marathon and it was vile.... 😱

How is your frozen shoulder doing Anniemurph? xxx

It turns out to be an impinged shoulder, Jan! Which is better, I think. The ultrasound scan showed a massively inflamed bursa but little of the 'stuck bits' (my translation) associated with a frozen shoulder. So I have to do lots of physio exercises and it will all come right in time. Hmmm. I hate it when it clunks though :(

Edited to say, thank you very much for asking! xxx

I did a 5k on Monday (well, 40 mins, which is about 5k for me), 7.4k on Wednesday up a reasonable sized hill (376ft), and I plan to do another 10k run tomorrow. Not sure how it will go as it's a new route up 455ft, but there's just nowhere flat around here, so I'll just do as much as I can. If I only do 9k, and a bit of walking, I'll still have got out there and given it a good go.

Looking forward to reading all about how everyone has got on with their quests over the weekend. Have fun! πŸ˜€

5K last Sunday for the virtual run for Remembrance Day...cold and slow :) Mr OF smiling smugly as he got a ridiculous time on the cross trainer! Humph!

Then.. a disastrous running week... none!

Loads of walking... with small runner in training..extra core strength and stamina exercise, as she has required extra loves and cuddles and carrying around this week....then I seem to have had some kind of infection in my ear.. very tender and very sore.... but.... a cycle ride here at the coast and hopefully I will run this Sunday!!!

Happy and healthy running everyone!!!

Ouch I hope your ear gets sorted soon, they can be terribly painful... and cuddles sound far more beneficial than running 😎 Xxx

I did it! Last week's accidental 10k wasn't a fluke after all. I really can run that far!!! It helps that every road back to home is downhill...so it's cheating a bit...but I'm dead pleased. I've no idea what I'd do if someone put a hill in front of me at the end of a 10k...probably try and run round it!πŸ˜‚ On the down side, I'd checked the weather apps and they all said it would be dry. They lied! I got home looking like a drowned rat and the last couple of kilometres I felt like I'd just had a bath full of water chucked over me. I really must get some waterproof stuff.

I hope all you questers achieve your goals for this weekend!

Due to life and work getting in the way, I haven't been as successful this month on my quest. Technically speaking though, I have managed in the last 7 days to get my 3 runs in, a yoga session (which didn't feel great, it's been many years, but I did it!) and reached my goal of 10k on yesterday's run, whoohoo. So I guess that means this last week was a success even if the week before was a complete right off. Now to keep up on 3 runs a week plus some form of cross training each week, and perhaps another 10k before the month is out 😁

You're doing great, and you got your 10k done!πŸ˜€πŸ‘ I couldn't keep up with yoga and cross training as well as running, life and work. I think you're maybe being a bit too hard on yourself. πŸ€” Your achievements speak for themselves. β˜ΊοΈπŸ…

Managing half of my plan b goal with 2 runs a week.. but no core work. Just tell me to get on and do some!!! I don't know what the problem is. It's kind of like I read about how important it is, I see my flabby tummy (the only bit of me with much flab really), then some stupid gremlin tells me that reading about it and looking at what I'm meant to be doing is enough to be able to say job done....

Not very impressed with myself :(

Hello, sorry for the late post. Well I am just continuing with the training plan and did the slower 14.5k on Friday. Had a couple of rest days and went out on Monday for a faster 7k, but it was on a new indoor track that had high corner banks. I didn’t enjoy it and think I may have pushed a little too hard as the shins were barking for some time. They feel better today though. Have another 7k tomorrow. Going to take it easier and do it outdoors no matter what the weather! 😁
