We are already into week four of the new quest how is it going?
Hi there and welcome to the new Quest in its new home. I hope you haven't felt too lost over the last few weeks. It is back to normality now. The only difference is that the quest will end on the 31st October and a new one will start on th 1st November. This is mainly for the admins as it makes our scheduling a lot simpler, so I hope that doesn't disrupt your structure too much. Other than that it is business as usual ๐.
What the quest is:-
The quest takes one month . You can join any time within those weeks.
The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
I ask that you will be a graduate to join the quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.
Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put
I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the quest until the end.
At the end there will be a certified cate you can download to keep.
Wishing you a happy healthy week

Not a brilliant week for physical fitness. We had visitors so it was a case of Aggressive Rest Therapy during the day to ensure I could be out of bed in the evenings.
The yoga wasn't happening but then picked up so at least I have done a few sessions... and there were no runs because of the other stuff.
However, the final days of the month do give me a better chance of getting in a swim and a cycle. And maybe a spot of running tourism.
A bit of a meh week here. I managed two runs last week, and went to the Shoulder Clinic, at which the consultant confirmed that I do indeed have a frozen shoulder. Right. When I asked him what I can and can't do (all running related ) he was very keen on not pushing it past the point of discomfort. But it's flipping uncomfortable anyway, so that was a good couple of hours out of my busy life wasted. Ah, well.
This week I am going to take my four black toenails (!) to the Run Forrest shop in Matlock where there is cake. I will also discuss the possibility that my shoes may not be quite right
Just looking at this - I don't have experience of new shoes as yet, but Mr SC always used to run in Newton's and got the latest shoe last year to find they had altered the size of the toebox and his toes and nails suffered. Interestingly - this years model they have altered the toebox and made it bigger but it does mean that we cannot rely on the new and improved design being the same fit!
Every so often they change the last and it can cause havoc with the fit, I think. I don't mind as much when they just play around with the pretties on the outside, but it's a nuisance when you think you've found the right shoe and then the next model is different. I try and buy the same shoe in the sales when I've found one that's right, but eventually you run out and you have to start again! I hope Mr. SC found something that worked for hi,.
any excuse to get a new (or 10 new) pairs of shoes!! Newtons were also really good as he sent them a feedback email and they sent him a voucher for a new pair.
This is a dumb question but in this reply how did you copy my name and keep the link intact? Whenever I copy someones name I cant keep the link, only the text.
Do you mean tag you so it shows up blue and you get the notification? Not a dumb question at all, they've only introduced the feature fairly recently here on the forum I think.
It's like FB: use the @ sign then start typing the name and you should get a dropdown list to choose from. Select from that and away you go
Aaaw AnnieMurph, is it your right or left shoulder?.
Poor you, I know how you feel. I have a frozen left shoulder, first started in February this year. I had several weeks of physio and can now get my arm up straightish and a tiny bit behind my back but its still stiff and I'm not confident to drive with it.
It did keep me awake a lot to start with, during the painful period and in the end the doctor prescribed something to help me sleep, which was great.
Exercises helped, but it affects your balance a bit and I did take a nasty fall. Its a nuisance dressing and impossible for me to put on my sports bra by myself.
I hope you get some helpful treatment and feel better soon.x
This one is my left, Jan. My right was frozen a couple of years ago after I dislocated it, and I was so depressed when this one started after my right one recovered
It is thoroughly miserable, but let me reassure you that it does go away and I now have most of the movement back in my right shoulder I hope you recover quickly, although I'm sure they have warned you that it will take quite a bit of time. Thanks for your good wishes x
I have finished W3 of c5k up to 10k today. A little 3.5k run that should have been easy felt like hard work today. Maybe Friday's 7k was still in my legs..I didn't do much exercise this weekend and not my best time of day... but done.
Welcome onboard, your name has been added. We don't have any cutoff dates on here, I think there is nothing worse than being eager to go and having to wait for the next one.๐
This week was a mixed bag...2 out of 3 runs finished. Woke up Sunday to ugly winds that just got worse as the day went on....supposed to run 8k....decided to use the dreadmill errr treadmill. Was very glad had made that decision when 20 minutes in started to experience intestinal cramps๐ฌ...continued running for 15 more minutes...cramps got worse....tried to increase pace....really didn't want to fail ๐ฉ. But had to stop ...38 minutes...8k not achieved; not even 6k. Oh well, will retry next week. Hopefully can venture back outside and my tummy will feel better . Just a blip in my journey to 10k.
Thanks. Trying to not let it get me down. I'm quite stubborn so it took a lot for me to quit. Hoping whatever this bug is passes in the next few days so I can run Wednesday ๐โโ๏ธ
This week was just some regular runs. These were listed as preconditioning in the Asics calendar. Sunday was #1 of โgetting fasterโ and was noticeably harder. This wed is a 7k and Fri is a 10.5k. Lets see what happens ๐
Completed run two of Week 3 of the ju-ju- 'get to 10K' programme on Sunday..7K.. very slow but very satisfying... last run of Week 3 tomorrow...one run behind Bluebirdrunner
I am taking two days rest, just to put in some extra exercise on my legs...and because I am sensible..ha ha!!!
It didnโt go too far - I ran as often as I should have, and stuck roughly to the lengths/durations/type I just didnโt do everything exactly.
Today the plan has me down for a 47 minute long, easy with strides run that is my last run before the Beachy Head 10K on Saturday.
What Iโll actually be doing is a Canicross run with friends that will be about that long which - because of the nature of Canicross and the fact that not everyone is as fit as everyone else - I would normally count as an interval session.
