A slippy, slidey, wet 10k...🌧🏃🏽‍♀️🍂

A day later than planned due to an impromptu trip to the rubbish dump with a heavy old dishwasher! Instead of running later on, I opted for a walk with my husband and son - such a lovely afternoon here in Surrey - cool and breezy! So this morning (I am on half term so have the week off) the damp conditions and forecast of rain were neither here nor there...it was time for a run! I took almost the same route that I had run last weekend but swapped an almost impassable nettle strewn path for a wet grassy field - easier to run through but soggy feet were definately the order of the day today! Many of my trails were really slippy after the recent rain. It certainly slows you up but there is a certain satisfaction in picking your way carefully along muddy paths and around tree roots which I find quite rewarding!! The accompanying drizzle turned in to quite heavy rain at about 5k and I was glad of my cap to keep the rain out of my eyes. Plodding alone along the bridleway which many years ago was our local railway line, listening to my music and hearing the rain dropping down through the trees around me - it is always here that I feel I have found my happy place! So another 10k in the legs and now hoping to find the pace that I have not quite yet regained after injury. Still, feeling happy that my stamina seems to be building again and absolutely of the mindset that you just cannot beat a good 10k run! 😀🏃🏽‍♀️...especially at this time of year, and dare I say it...especially in the rain!🙂

Wow... what a wonderful run and such an evocative post too...it sounds wonderful.. I can just see you, running along, the rain all around and you smiling as you run Lovely!

What a contentedly wet run report, Sandra.

I still haven't got back to 10k yet after my recent layoff and my stamina seems to be at an all time low, but the contentedness of a good run makes up for it all. Extra special when coming back from injury.

Sounds delightful Sandra (well maybe not the soggy feet and downpour 😉) but how wonderful that you are back in your happy place and building up the stamina.

I was glancing through the daily email and was most impressed because I had an instant vision of you running to the tip with the dishwasher, like the people you see running at events with fridges strapped to their backs!

I'm still impressed by your trail run because anything vaguely uneven and I panic, and I don't like running in the rain, so how lovely that you are in your happy place

Ha ha ha! That did make me laugh Annie - my biceps are still aching from carrying the damn thing - and that was with my husband!! 🙂
