First solo run after graduation... And I got lost!

Now, I know I live at the bottom of this hill, but I was trying so hard to extend my run (which given the size of the hill, turned into a crawl) that by the time I looked up, I was completely lost. I'd climbed (crawled) about 420 feet. I certainly can't lay claim to running up all of it! Nonetheless, the view was nice, and I managed to find my way back to my usual path eventually. What an adventure!

I'll do it again... but that hill... there's no way I'll ever be able to run it all. A girl can dream though. ☺️💭

You weren't lost. You just temporarily didn't know where you were 😃 Running leads us all over the shop 🙂

Haha! I'll have to remember that next time I end up somewhere I don't recognise! 😂😂😂😂

Ah, hills. I live in Derbyshire, and for the first three years of my running life, I ran on the flat. This was quite an achievement! I have now realised that hills are good for me, and learned to embrace the three that we keep lying around the town :D Luckily they come in three convenient sizes: a hard one, a fiendish one, and one I have christened Killer. My tip is to keep trying and to make a note of where you get to each time so that next time you can aim for that point. Beating your previous record is a great feeling! Making it to the top of any hill is epic! Keep your steps small and pump your arms to keep your energy going. You will make it to the top one day :)

As for getting lost, that's part of the fun!

That is such good advice! 'I name my hill'... Haven't come up with anything appropriate yet, but Killer definitely fits.. At least I'll know what to call it when I'm fighting with it!

I'll go back up there Friday, try to learn the route and set my mark... Like Zorro or something. Actually, if I take a picture of where I get to, Strava records where on the route I took the photo. I have such a bad memory! 😂

I now have a plan. Thank you, and happy hill running! 🏃

You would be surprised! Keep running and I bet you get there. Happy adventuring.

Thank you. I'll keep at it. At least it gives me something to focus on. ☺️

I'm loving the hill names! I wonder how many there are? Maybe I should name mine NOOOOOOOO! 😂 😂 😂

No, because then you will have to rename it when you conquer it :)

That's true 😅

YES, because then you'll have to rename it when you conquer it!

That's true too...always look to the positive! I just got lost again. I see a recurring theme here!

As someone said - that's part of the fun!

Of course you'll be able to run the hill. Like the C25K you probably thought at one time that you'd never be able to run for 30 minutes 🙂 Now look at you.

That's true. But I think I'm still in shock over running for 30 mins, so I haven't quite caught up with the possibility of being able to tackle THAT hill!

You will 🙂

There are loads of hills near me I never thought I would conquer and I have; the slow and steady mantra works on hills too.

And i love running as far as I can up the hill, touching whatever new marker I've reached (people must think I am mad cos I touch letter boxes or bushes or street signs all the time) or I've promised myself i'll get to, to show myself I can, then that feeling of being tipped back down as I turn round and enjoy the downward "rest" with gravity doing half the work. Just make sure you control your speed on the way down otherwise you can find the brakes fail!!! 😁

Haha, I'd run into the nearest tree! All advice duly taken on board, and I'm most grateful for it. Hill running will now be a fixed weekly event in my diary...followed by a day of trying to avoid them like the plague! 😂 😂 😂
