This is what a short man walking at 8:30 pace looks like :)

I think that's impressive, I have great long daddy-long-legs legs and I can't walk that fast, not for that far anyway!

Any tips on getting down from 9 -8.30. My walking pace has stopped at 9 and I am struggling to get it down further. Great photo, look at you go.

Could be that 9:00 is your limit? We all have upper limits. I have never ever walked this fast before and not really sure why it happened this time . My official parkrun result is 41:55. I walked using my heels as first point of ground contact - but I brought my arms/hand up high ( bit like a running stance) with elbows at 90 degrees or even a bit more and leaned forward . I also concentrated on driving my elbows backward as I swung my arms from the shoulders. I am certain that this latter action gave me forward drive in my legs :) Having a bit of a rest legwise for the rest of this week - did another 5K yesterday but more leisurely and foot started to complain last night. I am fairly certain that my prognosis after my next xray in 4 weeks time is that my fracture has healed 'clinically" but not "radiographically" - in other words, non-union of the fracture.

I feel there is a faster walking speed inside me somewhere 😀. I agree leading with the shoulders and arms produces more speed that is how I got from 9:30 to 9. I heel walk for speed walking, I am thinking I need to move more from the hips as well.

Good luck with the X-ray, I hope it is Good News.

We can actually "forefoot strike" while walking - I have played around with it but it is really quite unusual as we mostly heel strike when walking . My fast walk using heel strike was strenuous and I am going to further investigate the use of forefoot strike while "fast" walking goo.gl/ggxTUe It could still be quite possible that I will not be able to run again without surgery - and at my age I am unwilling to have "unnecessary" surgery - so Power walking (maybe even Nordic walking) may be my future. :(
