I have been a little out of sorts over the last couple of months. Since mid August I have not been able to concentrate on distance as planned. I was having some issues and was nervous running too far from home. Running brought on bowel movement and with very little warning. I also got very worried when blood was appearing with a bowel movement. Anyway I seeked medical advice, had blood tests and on Thursday I had a colonoscopy. Of course my symptoms cleared up 2 weeks before the colonoscopy. All is well thank goodness. And I am now back to normal.

So to celebrate I did a Parkrun yesterday and this morning I took part in a beautiful 5K trail run around the grounds of Slane Castle in Co. Meath with my 8 year old boy called Oisin. There were very steep hills, and uneven trails, but we got through it and loved it. Oisin did his very first 5K in difficult terrain but beautiful scenery in 38:28. It was cool running with him and getting him away from YouTube for a few hours.πŸ˜€

Back to training now for 10k. I'll start increasing my distance on Tuesday. So relieved everything is ok and look forward to building back up my fitness and the miles.

Damien

Hope the health issues clear up I can totally relate as having suffered with ulcerated colitis since I was 25 and IBS it's a real effort to get myself sorted so to speak to get out the door ... determination is sometimes the greatest key along with eating the 'right' foods for me ... anyway I ramble ....

Great pic of you two πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

Great pic, Damien! Well done to Oisin on his first 5k in a great time :)

I'm glad your health issues have settled as well. It's always scary when something goes wrong, but well done for going to get it sorted out. Now you can get back to running again :)

So glad to hear you are ok Damien. Was starting to wonder. I had a routine colonoscopy last week too. all part of getting older I suppose. Its great that you were able to have some quality time with Oisin as well. Best of luck with the 10k training from here on too. Take it easy and hope to hear from you soon :)

Great that you're health is OK, these things are such a worry.

It sounds as if you had a fantastic time with Oisin and congratulations to him for doing his first 5k in a very respectable time.

Look after yourself and don't go too far too quickly. :-)

Glad to hear you are back on track and feeling better.πŸ™‚ Big congratulations to you and Oisin for a fab 5k. I love it when I run with my boys, although at 13 and 17 (teenagers!!) it is not as often as I would like it to be!πŸ˜€
