Thank you to Vassos Alexandor whose audiobook got me through that, a nice distraction and it was probably one of my most enjoyable long runs ever, one of those *~the stars have aligned~* runs. Just kept going and I did it. The weather was perfect for running so I was a bit lucky there I suppose.
No blisters to speak of either! I may have finally found a winning combination in Mizuno shoes, Hilly socks and piles of Vaseline on any problem areas just before the run. *fingers massively, massively crossed*
As some of you may know, I've had a reasonably bumpy road on my 10K journey (much bumpier than my 5K journey, which comparatively I found a breeze). But now I finally feel justified in claiming my Graduate10 badge, which I shall go and do now. I did do a 10K over a year ago, but it was awful and I never felt like claiming the badge. Needless to say today was a 10K PB (of the two!) in 1:14:19.
Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has supported me over the past year with your helpful and kind comments, while I battled my gremlins. I now feel like I can tick 10K off my list and look firmly ahead towards my 10 mile race in 3 months, with new belief that I can do it.

Well , I had to read this post even though I knew you had done it! I am so pleased for you Sarah - that badge is well deserved and great that you are finally claiming that badge! Isn't it wonderful when you have one of 'those' runs, when it all comes together? Happy days!😀 Good luck as you build on this now for your 10 miler - you can do it!🏃🏽♀️😀
Well done Sarah, almost two thirds of the way to the GSR distance. And the nice flat course and crowds will be a help when October 22nd comes around (p.s. I am a Southsea resident, also signed up for GSR, not doing nearly so well in training).
Hi Coddfish! Ah it's nice to hear of someone else doing it! I'm sure you will be fine if you take it easy, don't worry too much! There are so many variables, I've heard it can be very windy in the last two miles so I'm going to just try and take it at my own pace. I also felt I was behind in my training a few weeks ago (the hot weather did me over!) Just looked at your profile and seen you've done 50 parkruns too (a while ago), that's one of my goals, I'm at 37 at the moment! Best of luck in your training!
