Am I just wimping out here....

I've started on week one of Bridge to 10k and am doing OK but not monumentally fast. I wouldn't normally care about speed or what I look like (and have replied to many a post on C25K about just getting out there) BUT this weekend we are off to Nottingham for my husband to compete in The Outlaw - a full iron distance triathlon (for those of you who also follow the runners world forums he is a pirate).

I am due to run on Saturday but am now having niggles and doubts of self confidence. How can I shuffle up and down the regatta lake where the athletes on Sunday will be storming around the marathon length run which concludes their event? I know I am being a wimp here and that no-one will be looking at me, and I also know that the triathletes come in all shapes and sizes with some taking up to 6 hours to run the marathon and I know that I should just get out there and complete my run - maybe I will try to find somewhere quiet to plod along...anyway (hopefully) wimping out and argument with myself now over!

Sounds like you know what the right answer is.

Go out there. Run. Enjoy. Do your own thing, nobody is going to think anything bad about it. At worst they'll not notice you, and at best they'll think "good for her".

Thanks Tomas - I think I am just having a rabbit in the headlights moment. I don't normally care and will just be out there in my own little world.

And you'll enjoy it and have a great time. Of that I'm certain :)

You will kick yourself if you don't. Do this for you. None of us are professional runners. We are fun runners! Go out there and have a right good time. That's an order!

😃🏃‍♀️👍🏅✔️

I will do - the best bit about it is that it is as flat as a pancake so I really must take advantage and you are right I will kick myself if I don't.

You are a triathlete in training......what's the problem?

You have to size up the opposition some time or another.

I don't do open water!! Nothing petrifies me more than the thought of getting into smelly water where I can't see the bottom - running in front of a crowd of athletes now feels easy!!

Yeah, but they don't know that!

I know - I have helped out at one of the bike feed stations over the past few years and that entitles me to be fed with the athletes. The amount of times I have been asked how fast I had completed the event! This is usually followed by an explanation that I was only on the feed station...followed by extreme gratitude for volunteering.

Racing is fun. Who knew 😃🏃‍♀️

Hmmm - a 2.4 mile swim followed by 112 miles on a bike and then run a marathon. It may take a bit more training just to do the run part!

Sounds a bit hard core that does 😃
