a slow deflated tortoise and yet my plan says to run 5 miles comfortably lol. My route took me up the long slow incline of my 10k event. The incline defeated me the last time I did this in my 5k training and reduced me to tears! Today I did a comfortable 5 miles in 53.31 and I did a slow and steady jog all the way up the incline, In fact it felt pretty good. Just need to master it twice in a 10k run! I am a happy tortoise.
And today I feel like this.....: a slow... - Bridge to 10K
And today I feel like this.....
Nice one π
Well done - the joy of cracking a hill that has defeated you before, compares with that first 5 or 10k, I think! Great that you can practice on your actual event course - when is your 10k? Keep it up!π
The event is beginning of June and it is 0.5 miles from my house! I am trying to keep my training schedule to 10k so I am ready for it. I am concerned by how hot it might be as my 10k runs have been in winter!
It sounds as though you will be well prepared. I did my first 10k event last year in the middle of May and it was an unexpectedly warm day that caught a few runners out. I just eased up, made sure I took on water (which I don't normally do on a 10k) and it was ok. I know what you mean though, I find running in the heat so much harder! π
You are going to be fine! Plan your fluid and carb in take, if its warm slow down further. You will do so well πππΌπ
I haven't had to think about water, carbs and energy before so this is all new to me. I guess I should look into this if I want to increase my distance more.
Because i am slow and carrying far too much weight i had to look into this for 10 k. You may not need to. They say if you run an hour then you need to think about it.
