Had a nice run in the sunshine, although remaining frosty, a grey squirrel joined me and it crossed in front of me at about 3m on the path, seemed fairly tame, not as skittish as usual, must be used to us runners, lovely to see..😊

Sweet! :)

One of the bonuses of outdoors running compared to treadmills.

Another oldie who remembers Tufty!! I agree, they often seem very unafraid of people sometimes.πŸ™‚

If you want to see squirrels Dave there are hoardes digging up my garden!!. I do still have my Tufty club badge though.

Sorry to hear that AR, Luckily I haven't got that problem, I just get a fox come in who occasionally uses the garden and front drive as a toilet. I take it you've tried to stop them using the ways on the following link..

Thanks I'll have a read of that. The foxes live 2 gardens down where the lady feeds them. I do love the wildlife really! Would love a hedgehog.

I love the wildlife, but annoying for you when they're messing up the garden, we got a new cat last January from the local cat rescue centre, she's a lovely 3 year old long haired tabby, but! She has her moment's and you have to be careful how you handle her and can tend to lash out or bite and she claws at the carpets & furniture which annoys me, she has a dedicated scratching post, I try not to get too upset, think she probably had a rough start in life being abused, but she seems to be gradually getting better, it's just the clawing..

If only we could reason with them - I'd happily leave the squirrels some food, or the slugs a few plants if they would then leave the rest alone!!

Ali, I've visited a lot of the UK but never been to the IOW, would like to visit one day, Slinky has family friends in Gurnard. We were lucky to have seen a red squirrel on Brownsea Island in the summer, funny thing is, the red don't eat acorns, they can't digest them..

Gurnard is nice for a run Dave, lovely and flat! my friend's parents have a beach hut there and we walked into Cowes last week for a lovely stroll! we also have a very friendly parkrun in Newport! :)

I saw a squirrel over here a while back with a walnut whilst on my run, i startled him and he dropped it and went up the tree looking most fed up ! :) i was lucky to have one in my garden when i lived in Cranmore :)

My sister and I had a Tufty board game! We lived on the Isle of Wight then, and our garden was full of red squirrels, so Tufty just joined our club!

I was on the Isle of Wight as a child - I'm 52 now and left when I was 18. Which bit of the Island did you live in?

Wootton Bridge

And I'm about to be 52! Did we go to school together? I just discovered that my sister-in-law has been working with one of my best friends from my IOW days for the last 20 years and neither of us knew it, she's now on the mainland. Small world!

I was at Sandiwn High School. I expect you went to Ryde. I did go to the Convent School in Ryde instead of middle school though. πŸ˜€

I left the island when I was 10. I did a year at Downside Middle School in Newport - what a fortunate escape - that place was like a war zone!

My Dad still lives here, so I get to visit every now and again. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I was in the Tufty Club, had a badge to prove it. He was a red squirrel, and until I was 18 i didn't realise that grey squirrels even existed. We only had red ones on the aisle of Wight where I grew up.

Now I am constantly plagued by grey squirrels who dig up my lawn, eat the bird food and general cause havoc in the garden. They are always in the park taunting he when I run. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Well, that was the deliberate mistake! Grey squirrel! Was waiting for someone to point that out!😁

Think the one I saw was taunting me as well!πŸ˜‚

We've got a few black squirrels round our way too. They're cute :)
