Can we talk socks for a moment? Do any of you have favourite socks that you run in and what difference do you think they make. As my distances are increasing, this is becoming a bigger issue. Would love to get some recommendations and some pros/cons.

I currently use a pair of Everlast ankle length socks and not suffered from any blisters or the such like. I use them for playing squash too and not developed blisters there either. I know there are probably better technical socks if you are doing a lot of miles but these a fine for me atm.

Don't apologise! I totally love running socks, they feel so luxurious and cosy that I wear them all the time, even when I am not running. The padding feels so soft on my feet that when I run, it feels very comfortable. I wouldn't even think about running in ordinary socks anymore. I am a bit tight, so I just get them from a well known cheap sports store but I might treat myself for Christmas to some special ones, maybe some Ron Hill socks for the winter

I converted to double layer socks very early on. They stop me getting blisters in my arches... I got runbreeze first of all, but I've also found cheaper double layer socks in Sports Direct that work just as well. What do you expect from your running socks - any particular niggles?

Exactly your issue really. The arches seems to be place for niggles.

Then definitely get double layer socks :)

I had problems with calf strain in my early weeks and was advised to try compression socks. So now, I alwYs wear these. I don't know if they work but they are my favourites.

these are my running socks at the moment and will buy again when they have worn out, cheap cosy, comfortable, cushioned and pretty good value. I also have an expensive pair of socks which are my lucky race socks!
