So, I've just become the proud owner of this rather beautiful road bike. Initially Gladys is going to be attached to a nice warm Turbo Trainer and won't have to go outside for a while!

Him Indoors drove to Edinburgh yesterday afternoon while I was working and she was waiting for me when I got home, much to my surprise. She's second-hand but really "as new".

Him Indoors is passionate about cycling. He was beside himself with joy on Saturday when I said I would like a road bike. I think he believes he has made a convert. Bless him, he hasn't. I want Gladys for cross-training to make me a better runner.

Gladys looks like she's dying to get a few mud splashes on her. Maybe let her out once in a while, don't keep her indoors indefinitely... And it doesn't have to be a matter of converting. I love both cycling and running. I get my speed fix on my bike, although I feel more exercised just running 5k compared to 10 or 15k on the bike

Yes, I'm sure she'll be out and about in due course Ruth. But I'd rather get the hang of the change of gears, pedals, handlebars etc compared to my trusty old hybrid on the Turbo Trainer as it's harder to fall off!

Also, she is just SO shiny and clean.... like my new trainers were till that rainy woodland run....

There is no failsafe way of making sure you don't fall off a bike... It just happens, sooner or later! Enjoy getting to know Gladys and hope she gets to have some muddy adventures soon My bike is a hybrid, slower than a racer but I always speed away fastest at traffic lights because of the gear ratios. Love it

Aw, Him Indoors sounds like a real gem. If Calculus bought me something that he enjoys to convert me, it'd have "Black & Decker" written on it somewhere. Make sure you get it out of the garage soon!

I'm a member of British cycling and have a hybrid,🚲 been looking at getting a nice lightweight road bike like that..maybe next year..😊
