Ran earlier this morning. I think I probably had about 3 hours sleep. Neighbours were talking loudly in the back garden till about 1.00, then loudly indoors over their music until about 3.00am. Normally I wouldnt notice but I was sleeping on my son’s bed( while he’s not here) and his bed is at the back of the house, because my poorly cat was asleep on mine and I didn’t want to move him or roll on him.
He is a Marathon sleeper at the best of times which is why I didn’t notice anything until my daughter called round ( she’s in my “bubble”) about 7.30 last night and we realised he had been in his bed downstairs (I’d shut the door to the hall when I took Mimi to the vets for her booster) and he’d been there all day and hadn’t even got up for his tea. Now he is a creature of habit and at 10 to 5 he likes to stroll in and remind me that his tea should be in his bowl on the dot of 5!!! So I went over to his bed and stroked him and he didn’t stir much so I left him, thinking he was just tired. My daughter went over and picked him up for a cuddle and we noticed his tongue was protruding from his mouth. Only about 1/4” but unusual for him. Then when she put him down he was very wobbly and seemed to be favouring his back leg. He wobbled over to the door and asked to go upstairs and went very slowly up, still being careful of that leg, and sat on the landing. I rang the vets and the oncall girl said she’d get the vet to ring me back.
When I went upstairs he’d managed to get on my bed ,which is his preferred sleeping place, and was curled up in a ball. When the vet rang she said it didn’t sound life threatening and unless he was vomiting or had diarrhoea then to keep an eye on him and bring him in this morning. Well he’s still on my bed. Hasn’t drunk anything at all for at least 24hours. Vets apt at 9.20 🤞
Anyway I came downstairs about 4.40 ish, after I’d let my tabby out for a wee, and then decided a run might take my mind off things. It didn’t really. However I did get 3 new PBS for certain segments of my run and I think I would have been online for a PB for my 5k but my Alarm kept going off and it shows up in my Garmin watch. The first time I managed to press snooze without breaking stride but the second time I’m sure I pressed the same button but it ended my run when I was on 4.6k and by the time I got it going again and did the other 0.4k I’d slowed down and lost the bit in between. Oh well - better than nothing and it was better than sitting here on the settee worrying and clockwatchjng.
I don’t know whether he’s been bitten and is poorly because of that or if he’s been bumped by a car. I know some people will say he’s only a cat but not to me. My grandchildren are one in Germany and one in Australia so I put a lot of my Nannyness into my cats instead. And my friends kiddies too.
Sorry for the long ramble 🙄

Sorry to hear about your poorly cat. They are such a big part of a family. Your neighbours are so inconsiderate! I really struggle with lack of sleep, I just can’t function, I definitely couldn’t run so a huge well done for going . And new pbs, awesome. Go outside and bang your pan lids, give the neighbours a wake up call 😇
Right, he has a temp of 40, 2 degrees higher than should be, a puffy back leg, and an ulcerated tongue. Very dehydrated too. Keeping him in for blood tests and drip. Prob over night.
I'm sorry to hear about your cat, I hope he is O.K. and gets back to himself soon. And they aren't just cats, all pets are part of the family and take a special place in your heart. I have a few rescue cats and I always get so worried if one of them isn't well.
It's great that you managed to go out at that time, I think I'd have opted for the stay in bed option, I just can't function properly if I don't get much sleep. It may not have completely taken your mind off things but I'm sure it was a welcome distraction.
Let us know how your cat is and well done again on that very early 5k!

I'm so sorry to hear that but the vets are wonderful and he is in the best place at the moment. I've got everything crossed for him and that he will be back home with you as soon as possible.
Thankyou. This boy is such a softy really and doesn’t like to fight. He has a few scars on his ears now from “bigger boys” but he tends to hide behind his girls. My 3 girls are much feistier than him. He managed to dodge the big boys for about his first 6 years and then new “kids “ moved in and both him and next doors boy cat seem to keep getting injured.
Oh bless him, I really hope it's just a little infection and that some antibiotics and TLC will see him right as rain again. I have to say I find that with mine too, I have 2 big boys who tend to just get beaten up by other cats in our village, but my girls give as good as they get. I always want to tell mine that they should get together and tell the other cats where to go, it's just a shame they don't understand!
Vet says he’s more comfortable now and they’ve got him on a drip, given antibiotics and anti inflammatories, bloods came back clear so that’s good. Only worry is what’s up with his leg. As it’s a bit swollen. Vet is hoping that the drugs will sort that out too - if not it’s xray and then maybe shave his leg to look for puncture wound ☹️
That sounds positive and at least he is more comfortable. One of mine had a small cat bite on one of his back legs a few months ago and his paw was so swollen but once the antibiotics kicked in, it started to go down and within a couple of days was totally back to normal. Fingers crossed the treatment works quickly for him and he will be back home where he belongs 🤞😺
I love cats and I feel for you, we worry so much about our beloved pets. They’re part of the family and as they can’t talk to us it’s so much harder to work out what’s wrong with them.
I’ve read your update to others so fingers crossed he’ll be ok x
Oh dear limberlou, what a rotten time for you and on top of no sleep. I think the fact you got out for a run at all has to be applauded - as you say, better that no run. I hope your cat is feeling better soon, they become so important in our lives and as they can’t actually tell us what’s wrong it makes it harder to cope with.
I know exactly how you feel - a cat becomes a member of the family - particularly if you've had them for a long time. I actually had a sort of bereavement when my cat died a few years ago. It was horrible.
I do hope your cat gets sorted at the vets and is back on their paws soon! xx
Thanks. He was a bit better this evening when the vet rang me -he’s staying in overnight at the vets on a drip with drugs to fight the infection hopefully. 🤞
My old bag of fleas was so bad, I even got the kids to choose where we'd put his ashes. But after trip to the vet, 3 teeth out and a night on a drip and he came through and came home the next day.
I really hope it's the same for your fur. As a sign in my house says "Cats are just little people with fur coats" I have 7 kids, 4 have black fur and claws 😘🤣🐱🐾🐾
It’s a regular occurrence. They think it’s cool that they have built a bar out there: it is ... for them. But I don’t think they realise how their voices carry. My son just wears earplugs or he’d never get up for work.
