9.75 miles and ....ouch!๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜ฎ

No not an injury thank goodness, but I took a tumble right near the end of a long run today! Having run the first 6 miles on trails and bridleways, up and down hills, picking my way 'nimbly' over tree root lined paths through woodland; it was the boring pavement 1/4 mile from home which caught me out! Staggered forward for a few paces before landing on my hands and then proceeding to do a kind of (fairly impressive) stunt fall(๐Ÿ˜ฎ) that saw me rolling off my right knee and elbow and doing a sideways somersault! I have a fair few grazes and a bruise or two to show for my acrobatics but nothing more fortunately! The most annoying thing was that I stopped my Garmin and walked home, before berating myself for not carrying on to complete the 10! Never mind, final long long run done before my GSR. Will now drop my distance a little in preparation. Here's to a more sedate run next time out!๐Ÿ™‚

Sandra

Yes I've been in that position tired legs !

I do most of my running off road and have taken a tumble many times!

Luckily no major injuries!

Well done and keep it up!

Ouch๐Ÿ˜ฑ Be careful out there. Good thing you weren't injured.

I did the same thing at 10.24km once, thought it was a sign my body didn't want to go further than 10k. You have to remember these falls happen quite suddenly, while moving at speed, and can be quite a shock. So definitely don't berate yourself. I also switched my endomondo off and walked home after my fall. After a few minutes sitting on a bench to recover!

Corrr! Well done Sandra, I would have been really shaken up. I've fallen before and was amazed at how fast I went down, as Hidden says below, because you are moving at speed it seems to happen from nowhere.

Glad you are ok, will look forward to your GSR report, HU members doing so many great things, must be the perfect time of year for it!

I've fallen on a number of occasions aswell, but fortunately never hurt myself badly. It's that horrible moment when you realize you're not going to make it, when the hands shoot out and your knee hits the ground. Always a bit shaken after and do tend to walk home to check the damage. Glad you're not hurt too badly - wear your scars with pride!

Definitely that moment when you are going down...

Last time it happened to me it was nearly a metre down a concrete lined ditch, so that "moment" lasted even longer than normal!!!

Look at your tags! ๐Ÿ˜€

Hope you are none the worse for your scrape. It happens quite often but mostly we get away with it. My husband tripped over the other night and landed on a car bonnet. Thankfully it was stationery and the alarm didn't go off ๐Ÿ˜Š So it's not just runners who are prat falling about the place ๐Ÿ˜Š

I was really glad no one was passing when it happened! You do feel a bit daft!!

Oh Sandra , you truly were flying ! :-)

Hope youre feeling okay today, what a mare ! Makes you feel a bit sick and wobbly afterwards doesn't it ?

I am out tonight and it'll be dark so I am going to take it really slow and not take any chances.

Be careful out there folks ! :-) xxx

Yep,I am fine. A little sore in places and some colourful bruises but otherwise nothing to stop me running!โ˜บ

Hope you're healing quickly, it can shake you up a bit - but of course the first thing you do is check if anyone saw you.

Glad you're ok sandra! Can't bust yourself before GSR! I nearly did the same on pavement on thurs eve but managed to keep upright!(just!!)

That slow motion feeling when you know you're going down but can't do anything to stop it!๐Ÿ˜ฐ

Ouch! the roots and pavements can be dire. Roots at the bottom of the lane where i run seem to have got bigger...

Well done you anyway... heal soon x
