deflated or what? maybe just knackered!

Found this shot slinky took of me at the finish of the Croydon 10k, maybe I felt disappointment at only receiving a juniors 3k medal that was left over because they had run out of 10k medals, see the rest just dumped on the floor!

Yes floss, that's another way of looking at it😉 Mrs Dave was watching me come over the finish line and said you weren't even panting hard, not like some of the other guys about your age who were making a racket of a noise, but they were some 20mins ahead of me so probably raced it! I probably treated it like just another run in the week, but then I was feeling nauseous from about the last 2k so didn't feel much like sprinting, which I think was because of the water I took on at 6-7k I didn't actually need it as wasn't really thirsty, just the fact it was there, I shall watch that in future...live & learn!😊

Go with Mrs Dave..you were feeling fit and fine.🙂 Lessons learned, but those speedsters do not need to know that..😉 They will be burnt out when they reach your agex xx

Well done Dave! ☺

Bit bad about the medals but never mind. You did it!, Good to have a memento all the same

I did a 10k last year where they ran out of medals, and everyone just slinked away from the finish line, so there was no one there at all! I did get the medal eventually, but had to practically corner someone to do so 😁.

I can't help it, I was disappointed, they took way too many entries on the day. It was only one of those little basic things, but it meant so much - especially when your confidence is a bit fragile at being a less than fast runner.....

Madge, yes I totally agree, its like being told youre not up to it , in not so many words, which can totally dent your confidence xxx

I did get offered a free place for this year which I wasn't going to take.......(this one is in early November) as what with some other things that happened as well, it wasn't a favourite - But......you know how it is........😄

So I'm giving it another go..... I am spartan! Never give in! 😉

Nope, I reckon you just look chilled, as in, '10k? Yeah, sure, no problem!' What a pity about the medals, though! Well done - we think you are great!

I've just received a message from the organisers of the 10k I did apologising about the lack of medals, after I complained, and as I thought they had a big influx of runners registering at short notice, some 200 in the week and 50 on the day before, anyway, I'm told I'll be sent my medal in the next few days!😊

Ah good, It is very disappointing at the time isn't it ? You just want something in your hand to say " I did it ! " don't you ?

I did a 5k race last year , there was no bling , just a goody bag. They were all stacked up at the finishing line and had ran out by the time I got there . I was told that the faster runners were taking 2 and 3 bags each at a time - Gits ! :-(

Just a bit of mis-organisation by the sounds of it , and that it will be better organised next year :-)

Please post a pic when you get it Dave, we are all dying to see it ! :-) xxx

Pops, it's been run for about 30 years! but maybe the organisers are recent, anyway it needs sorting. When I get my medal I'll offer some suggestions for improvements in this area No, runners shouldn't be allowed to just take what they want, on the literature I got in the race pack they said there would be a goodie bag, when I complained about the lack of, they said there was no goodie bag, but there were banana's, fruit bars & water available on the table at the end, so good job I took away some of this fare, as they were asking us to take what we wanted as was going spare..😊
