Hi all. I completed my 10k last night on the magic plan. I’m not up to starting half marathon training. I think 10k might be my limit. Any tips on what to do next? What sort of distances/ other training should I be doing a week? Thanks

Yeah yeah we all said that. You’ll be doing a half marathon next year 🤣

Congratulations! Personally I’d recommend some consolidation work like we advise for new C25K graduates, it’s good to do every few months and milestones seem to be the most logical time to do them. Like the 5k/30 minutes consolidation 10k will become easier. This way you also have time to think what you want to do next... the choices are endless really.

Thanks. Yes I’ll try and do that

What do you think you'd like to do?

For now just enjoy it, if you want to go a bit further just don't break the 10% rule. Try some fast short and slow long runs. See what feels good, fits into your lifestyle and works for you. 👍🏻😁

Just carry on here. I've built to around the 12k mark so that I'm comfortable running 10k but that's about as far as I go. A typical week for me is one longer run (8-12k), one shorter run (4-6k) and then either parkrun or rugby on Saturday mornings. Works for me and I also have no desire to train for or run a marathon.

Thanks. Yes that sounds like a plan! 😊

You could always see if there’s a 5k or 10 k race near you and get your first bit of bling 🏆🥇🥈🥉🏅

Good idea! Thanks

Well done for achieving 10k. It’s a great distance. 👊 As the others have said, you could consolidate 10k for a while - maybe run it once a month, and also do 5k (PR?) and even try some intervals (I recommend JogRunSprint).

Then see what grabs your fancy. You might be ok with that, maybe entering some 10k races, or you may consider sneaking up in distance and going for your next badge - 10 miles (16.1k) or even beyond. 😀

Basically it’s up to you, but never say never. Ask me - and countless others! 😅😅

Well done you on completing your 1st 10K, fab 🎉...if it was me I'd recommend a lay down but then I haven't exceeded 6K yet so 10 sounds exhausting! 😆 Enjoy what ever you decide to do 👍
