My first 10k draws nearer...

Yesterday morning I did the third run of week five of the Bridge to 5k program (two half hour runs with one minute's walk in the middle). One hour's running. 9.1km in my case. Last week I got carried away and ran 10k before I was quite ready and had to take three days off to recover, so I've gone back to the program...

My first (and maybe last!) ever 10k event is on 16 October so now I'm trying to decide if and when to do the three runs of week six of the program, when to start tapering, and so on.

On Thursday morning at Dark O'clock, we are heading off to Majorca. It will be nice to go back to shorts and vest tops for running after having to get the cold weather running gear out here recently.

For the event itself I'm taking my wee mini-kilt that I wore in the Perth Kilt Run, and Him Indoors who has kindly agreed to run it with me is wearing a Scotland flag running top which I've bought him just for the occasion. :)

You'll walk it!! If you know what I mean.

The fact that it took three days to recover from your first 10k bears out my theory that new runners need longer tapers than most plans provide.

Sounds like you're well on track for the 10K and flying the flag! Good luck, but it doesn't sound like you need it 😀

You'll do it OK Anne! The outfit will be good, I'm descended from a Scotsman who came south in the early 19th century, but my nephew now lives in Troon with his young family, his wife is Scots. Enjoy the race and of course your holiday..😊
