Good week last week, I did a continuous run on the treadmill and really got to up my speed. I'm sure the thing that is making me faster outside is the run inside, I'm going to continue with my treadmill training for a while because it also helps with the hay fever a bit as well. Happy healthy week to you all.

I am still enjoying my HR training - it is so enjoyable to have the "pressure" of pace removed. I did a 6 K run alongside a friend on Sunday - who walked the whole way. I jogged easily and chatted to him the entire way - average HR was around the middle of Zone 2 which is exactly what I wanted to do - normally I tend to push it just a little when I am by myself and average out at the very top end of Zone 2. Pace was 8mins 45secs per K -- indeed very slow but it was still a good workout :)

Yes, running with a group or a pal, and maintaining chatting pace is lovely. Like you, if running on my own, I tend to push it the whole time

I hope you have a good week RFC, hayfever aside. Good luck with the tempo stuff.

I did a quick Parkrun on Saturday and a long run last night but this week's runs are shorter so it should be an easy time for me. Foot off the gas, relaxing runs. Yay! Looking forward to it

Hi all

Last week I seem to wake up and half my summer holidays have disappeared! I had so many plans and not done any!

My fitness targets were:

to increase my overall km each week, with long runs getting to near my HM distance by time I return to work

To increase my continuous running so by time holidays over I am up to at least 8km

To go swimming at least twice a week

In reality:

The longest run was Sunday 11km on treadmill

Made it to 6km twice so far but no further

I have been off work four full weeks and swimming a total of twice, not quite twice a week!

I did have a good running week. I managed some hill tries, I am not good at walking up hills so running up is not pretty! I am continuing to keep my Parktuns under 40 minutes.

Happy running 👟

I finally had a "good" run on Tuesday, felt fast, and got all the way to 6k, a real achievement as other recent runs have got cut short because of various niggles. I'm with you RFC about the hay fever, I'm now taking one tablet before bed and another when I wake up, as it seems to be at its worst overnight/early a.m. Hoping we're reaching the end of hay fever season soon...
