I'm very excited to be asked to hold the quest posts this month. I hope you've all gone to bed though because for 14 more minutes it's still July, but I'm going to London tomorrow and will be getting ready and might forget.......anyway......
Hello everyone, whether you are running or resting a big welcome to the August quest.
Yes August already and a very special month for me, my firstborn arrived on 2nd August many years ago.
A very special thank you to MissUnderstanding for hosting the July Quest and what a hot one it was too. Running and swimming were what I did outside of work most days.
To introduce myself, I am the Sola half of WillowandSola, we started C25K in March 2019 before the pandemic and changes to all our lives. I run and am very keen but sometimes work takes all my energy and then I sit and contemplate my next run whenever that will be.
What is the Quest ?
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
Some popular goals are:
★ To run three times a week
★ To slowly increase distance
★ To train for a specific race
★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is COMMENT BELOW with something like:
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I want to ..............
Every week I will put up a new post and we can all chat about how we are doing.
For me I want to continue to run and follow the half marathon plan so that one day I actually reach that distance, even if it’s snail pace
So come on in, get comfy and have a think about what you want to do this month, then add your quest in the comments and we will all cheer you on 😊
I will post once a week during August and hope to see familiar names as well as some new ones.
Thank you for getting this far……..

I saw a post on Facebook that said that the England women's team got so fed up with waiting for the men to bring football home that they brought it home themselves 😂
Brilliant! Thank you for hosting Sola 👏👏👏 I'm working on running more regularly. Life's a bit unpredictable at the moment and I can't make huge plans or commitments so I'll have to keep it simple. My quest for this month is to fit in at least two runs per week 🤞
Hello! How lovely to have you here ...or rather in London
My Quest, after not managing hardly anything last month?
Simply to get a run in...soon.
That sounds fairly unexciting, but, after the last few weeks , and sorry if I sound a bit self pitying, I shall be really happy when I do! The last month has been a tad rough and I am still not back on form.
But, reading the posts on Couch and on here are what keep me buoyant so... I will give this my best!
If I do not appear each week to post my progress. chase me up, PLEASE!
Hello all, very happy to be joining another quest, my first of the year!
My quest for this month is to get my running consistency back up to where it was this time last year, as I've been awful and it's showing on my fitness! I've also been making excuses since June that the weather was getting too hot for proper running, so I've compromised with myelf to make August the month I re-build the habit before I can start buildilng distance and pace again when the cooler months hit.
Overall aim is to be back running my weekly 10Ks by Christmas, but just for this month I want to hit 65KM total running distance, ideally over 3 - 4 runs per week.
Count me in! But where do I start? I've put on weight, not been running regularly and am just starting week 6 of my third C25K after injury. These things will sort themselves out I suppose if I say I'm going to make finishing C25k my August goal 🙂
I’ve been somewhat lax with my posting for a while…is there such a thing as a “posting gremlin”? So #1…regular posting…
Anyhow, after a glitch last last autumn, I reran C25k and the Magic Plan to 60 minutes. I’m currently on W6 to get back to 10k…so I guess that is #2…
…and finally #3…restart YWA over on S&F…this month is aptly named “Begin”…so it would be churlish not too! 😂
Above all, to enjoy my running…it’s taking me longer this time around, and I’m even slower than last time…but I’m going to ignore the competitive gremlins and chill out and enjoy!
Thanks for hosting Sola-lovely to pass the virtual baton on to you!
I’m in again for questing. At the end of the month, I’m doing a 10k race so being ready for that is on my mind.
I’m currently running 4/5 times a week and really enjoying it. I definitely feel in a bit of a groove and I want to keep that going. That’s number one. I’m away for a week next week and it’ll be very tricky to run. I don’t want that to knock me off track.
There’s a YWA challenge starting and I really want to get back into doing yoga regularly.
Finally I actually want to fit in some cross training, ideally twice a week. That’s number three.
That should be achievable! Now to put a handy checklist in my running diary…
My quest is just to be consistent with my running this month 😁!
I've re-downloaded the magic plan which I may tweak a bit.
Also to keep up with my strength work.
Physio gave me some new exercises to do which I will build into my S&F work - he has pretty much signed me off after all my many injuries recently but I've booked in to see him in 3 months for maintenance (as I know he gets very busy).
Hi SolaI am going to join the quest this month and hope that I will be able to do it.
Today I restarted C2 5 K it is now just over 3 months since I had my bunion op.
I did pretty well considering I haven’t run at all I have been walking since 7 weeks after my op and gradually speeded up I decided that August 1st was the day to start.
I think I may have walked a bit faster than I should but I completed Week1 run 1
Hi Sola How great to see that you are hosting this month's quest, thankyou.
I'm still getting out twice a week, but haven't done many posts, not like me 😂 I've been struggling a bit too enjoy getting out there. I'm blaming my long holiday with all the lovely scenery and now I'm back to the same old routes.
SO my quest is simply to try to recapture the enjoyment of running, trying some new routes perhaps.
Hi Sola, thanks for hosting this month.I am not going to put 'Run 10k', instead one quest is to sign up for my local 10k run in October. If I have a date to aim for there's a lot more incentive to run the distance a couple of times beforehand, plus the second half of the course is my normal running route so I'm hoping this will give me an extra boost if I'm flagging towards the end.
I'm going away again so am aiming to do at least one run in the forest while I'm there.
Other than that, to run consistently at least 3 times a week. I started well, got a run in this morning
Hello hello hello! I somehow almost missed your quest post but got here finally. Better late thannever!
Thanks for hosting! And from London! My oh my, I don't have anything as exciting as your running as part of an ABBA visit! My hubby (and ABBA fan) will be so jealous!
My quests:
- keep running 2-3x/week and progressing on my NRC 5k plan
- keep rowing 3-4x/ week and progressing on my 30x30 min plan with a biweekly 10k thrown in
- AND NEW(ish): reconnect with a daily Yoga practice with YWA. 2 days in all good so far!
Please sign me up Sola!I was wondering how on earth I could be kind and realistic with myself but still provide a helpful wee push... and then I found a rather suitable medal challenge and the ball was rolling.
So...
1) Virtual Runner 'RunWild' August challenge which is to do something every day. I am hoping to find a way to count yoga minutes in that.
2) Virtual Runner Sunflower Challenge to prompt me to a bit of continuous distance
3) Losing weight - I know we don't often have these as goals here and for good reasons, but the scales were not pretty when I got home from what felt like a pretty active holiday in Scotland and not really a whole lot of eating and drinking (I am guessing that it may have been the 3 days of Premier Inn all-you-can-eat breakfasts...) Anyway, the weight goal is to shed what has gone on... which may be effortless or not...
