Firstly thank you for all of the encouragement for my triathlon, I am sure I have bored you rigid with it recently.
So here's the report. Started very early with a 5.20am get up, just managed to turn the alarm off before it woke MrsMat30 so that was a good start to the day. A breakfast and then completed my final few tasks. My very kind brother came and picked up my bike and we both drove to the event with my fan club (MrsMat30 and my lovely daughter Charlotte) at 06:50. Registered, got written on with my number 118 (and yes I got lots of comments on that) that doesn't look as though it will wash off anytime soon. Set up transition and so reported to the swim. Started the swim, which did not feel particularly good, but according to my swim coach (MrsMat30, who has sat through every swim training session) she said it was really good. That took 21.54 although that incorporated a 10 minute wait, my actual swim time was 9.42 and then the run from the pool to the transition area. I only spent 1 minute exactly in T1 which was excellent considering I had to put socks, bike shoes, glasses, cycling shirt and helmet on before taking the bike out for a spin. 21km later in 47.26 and so to T2 to rack my bike and change shoes, only 52secs in there and so off for the run which took 35.15 for the 5.6km run. All in all I had allocated myself a time of 1hr 45mins before my race and although there will be a lot of people faster than me my official time was 1:36:28 which equals a very happy but tired Mat30. 8 minutes 32 seconds ahead of my own personal time is now a PB for me, one that I may well want to beat at some point. I even got some bling!
Thanks again for sending me good thoughts and sparing the time to keep reading my ramblings, I promise they will not be as long or as boring.
Stay healthy and keep on running!

I think you have on the wrong shorts for that number and might be missing the 'tache! But well done on the triathlon, that was a great time, has it inspired you to do another one?
My brother knows one of the original 118 chaps. Evidently your lucky number! Except that you worked hard for this achievement... you were so much faster than you thought!
Curlygurly2 i have worked out what happened with my times. When I went through the transition my chip didn't beep which means that although the overall time I have been given is correct, it means that my swim time has gone down as 21.54 and my cycle time was only 37 minutes which is exactly 10 minutes too fast. So take the 10 minutes off my swim time, add that on to my bike and everything is good. No waiting time. It wasn't until today that I managed to work it out as my splits were given to me. Hope that clears it up.
Oh Matt, that was not a long or boring report, and to talk of the next one already just goes to show you are absolutely bonkers! I guess this is what's called fun in your world.
Ha ha misswobble , the faffidge !!! I cant even go there in my head, just thinking about all that would involve is making me break out in a cold sweat ! xxx
I couldn't even get out of my own front door today. The key got stuck! Could I get the ruddy thing out đ Some folk just sail through life don't they đ I can'-t imagine being able to find where I'd left the bike, let alone find clothes and get changed. Oh to be organised
poppypug you are not allowed so you would be there for a while trying to pull off your suit! there are ways to get out of them although I was in a pool so I didn't have to. I think I will have to build up to an open water event seeing as swimming is not my forte.
