My first attempt at 10k this morning, in the cold and dark, I managed 1:00:26 which I am really pleased with especially considering I had numerous roads to cross and had to slow down a few times for fear of slipping on icy patches. :-)

Congratulations! And what a fantastic time for your first 10k! Also, well done for getting out so early - must have been freezing!

Thanks! It was - 2C when I got home.

I had my baselayer, running top, shorts, hat and gloves on and it's the first time I wished I had a pair of Robin Hood tights!

Ha ha! I'm going out later this morning and it's still going to be freezing - probably wear my hat or fleece headband for the first time😮...has to be really cold to make me want to wear anything on my head!

Fab time - especially in the ice. I've just been out and it really slows you down :-)

What base layer do you were by the way?

It's a Merino wool top that I got from Aldi... About £13 IIRC.
