What a lovely morning for a run !
Today was my day for a 5K and with the ever increasing temperatures it was worth getting up early , in fact, up at 5:30
And out of the door at 05:59
The thinest of shorts and t shirt were in order for today .
There was a lovely cool breeze as I did my 5 Mins warm up walk , I had already decided this was going to be a good run !
The intention was to control the run from start to finish and concentrate on my splits , set of slow and warm up , gradually increase pace through the Kms and finish with plenty left in the tank .
It makes such a difference to your run .
For me, the hardest part is setting off slow enough, the legs want to go faster .
It can also be tricky with the inclines .
My first Km is fairly flat but the 2nd is a long slight downhill and easy to let the pace pick up too much .
My 3rd Km had an uphill section , again difficult to maintain a steady pace it then finishes with a downhill section .
Again, the 4th and 5th Kms undulate .
I try to run by accessing my breathing with occasional glances at the watch .
I was feeling good throughout this run and was very happy how it worked out ,
I had almost forgot how pleasant it is to run early in the morning and this was certainly one of my most enjoyable 5Ks for a while .
My playlist was quite appropriate.
Starting with Pink Floyd's 'Breathe' followed with 'Set the controls for the heart of the sun' , 'Fat old sun' and finishing with 'Comfortably numb' π
Back home , stretches , porridge, tea and a shower and ready for my day .
Happy running VRB's ππββοΈπββοΈ
