It was a polyp!!!

So after a very long time and and some investigating, my bleeding was due to a polyp, and quite a large one at that,....about 4cm I believe they told me, so had womb biopsy it came back clear, then 2 weeks ago had the polyp removed under GA, just had my results of polyp sample ...all clear, no cancer thank god, what I'm trying to say as well, is even though my symptoms were quite bad in the end , bleeding heavily nearly every day, it turned out harmless, but my word it was a worrying time, the culprit of the polyp, well you know ladies it was the dreaded Tamoxifen playing with my hormones, I still continue to take Tamoxifen, just hope no more polyps.

I also had a very Large polyp Which turned out to be harmless.I was taken off Tamoxifen and put on Anastrozle

Hi Winnie13, your journey and diagnosis sound very similar to mine, I was diagnosed in June 2018, stage 2 , grade 2 IDC, I was only 42yrs at the time, no Chemotherapy for me only Lumpectomy and Radiotherapy, I've adjusted to my new normal, I try not to think about it to much, my biggest struggle was the fact that I considered myself quite young, and felt quite alone ..x

Morning. Are breast cancer journeys sound very similar. I was only diagnosed last year at aged 47. I to feel too young to have been dealt this devastating blow. I’m back at work and trying to find my new normal. I feel physically tired and the tamoxifen has changed my life. I have tapped in to a nutritionalist and I’ve made a lot of changes with my diet in attempt to reduce inflammation and maintain my blood sugars. I read a book called them anti-cancer book. It has really changed my approach and it is clear that oestrogen is the bad guy here. There are things you can do to reduce reoccurrence (which is the thing that scares me the most). I’m not scared of cancer now. I’ve had it. I’m scared of the reoccurance. I know that Tamoxifen is not enough for me and will be moved on to AIs after my periods have stopped for a year. Xxxxxx

Yes, mine was oestrogen receptor positive as well, I too fear the recurrence, I had my first mammogram last year June 2019, I was very nervous, but all clear they told me there and then, which was a relief, second mammogram in June this year, I'm nervous about this one, but it's got to be done, did you have the test done where they send your breast tumor to the USA, where it gets tested, and a score comes back, which indicates your risk of recurrence, I've forgot the name of it.?? X

I can’t even think about a mammogram right now as my boob is still tender. I’m due my first one in August. Yeah I had my Oncotype dx test done and my score was 6 which is why chemo wasn’t needed. My predict score showed radio reduced reoccurrence by 95% and tamoxifen by 1.1%. I paid for sa private DNA test through my nutritionalist and I know that I do not metabolise and get rid of oestrogen due to having some genes missing. So I’m hoping with lifestyle changes and moving to AIs I can avoid reoccurrence xxx

It sounds like you will avoid reoccurrence, 6 is very low, my score was 20, so I havce a medium to low risk, and was informed no Chemotherapy was needed , only Radiotherapy and Tamoxifen, I am pre-menopausal, so Tamoxifen is my only option at the moment I've 3yrs left on it .x

Hi there

I've been reading all this with interest as I too had a similar experience to you. Diagnosed July 2018 at age 49.

I had breast cancer in both breasts, had a recurrance score of 13 so no chemo, but radio & tamoxifen.

I've had lots of pain & bleeding and after lots of tests & scans I was told I had a 13cm fibroid which the tamoxifen was feeding! Along with weight gained, particularly around the middle.

I am not menopausal, but my consultant has switched me to anastrazole & zoladex implants which is usually only given after menopause. This is to prevent the need for a hysterectomy which is the only other option.

It's always worth checking if there are other options.

Hi, I know exactly how you feel, my Tamoxifen was going quite well, but then the bleeding started, it was awful, as you know if you've been reading it was a polyp but quite a large one, anyway I had it removed and I'm all sorted, I've had weight gain, and my joints hurt especially my arms, I'm only 44yrs and pre- menopausal, so Tamoxifen is my only option, I've got another 3 yes to do, feels like a jail sentence when I say it like that, ha ha, my score was 20, but was reassured it was still quite low, I try, an push my breast cancer diagnosis to the back of my mind, but it does creep back sometimes, x

It is hard, especially when you have further problems. You can't help but think 'is it back'?

I was going really well on Tamoxifen too until all this problem with bleeding started.

Doctor did hormone tests before starting me on the new treatment. I'm 51 now & still pre-menopausal.
