Hi all, I'm new to this site, still on my cancer journey. Started over 13 years ago when I found a lump, aged 42yrs, went for usual tests etc Grade 2 oestrogen positive. Had lumpectomy, followed by radiotherapy and tamoxifen for 5 years. All good! 13 years later regular mammogram showed tumour in same breast , more or less same place. Grade 3 this time. So had R mastectomy in September and 6 sessions of FEC chemotherapy, number 5 on Thursday. Finding it very hard! Plan is to have L breast removed and get fit and back to normal!! Then have double DIEP reconstruction. Onward and upward!!! Xxx

Hi There, all the best on the treatment, surgery and reconstruction. I was diagnosed with stage two triple negative cancer in the 2nd October 2015. I had three sessions of T and C chemo until it was stopped due to severe reaction to it. I had bilateral mastectomy and lymph nodes removed six weeks ago. Unfortunately I developed sepsis and pneumonia however after collectively just under 1 month in hospital I was discharged last Tuesday. I due to the lymph nodes being positive and the chemo not reducing the three tumours very much I now face three more sessions of another chemo then five weeks of radiotherapy. I have decided to live a 'flat' life and not go through reconstruction. I wish you well in your treatment and hope that once it's completed its bye bye to cancer for you permanently. xx

Sorry to hear it came back. A friend had the unpleasant surprise to discover she had breast cancer again after 14 years. Why do you want to have the healthy breast removed? Also, why didn't you have lumpectomy again in the same breast? It's interesting that they now suggest 10 years of tamoxifen.

Wishing you good luck in your new path now. Start maybe taking anastrozole if you're after the menopause.

Hi thanks for the reply x Couldn't have a lumpectomy as couldn't have radiotherapy again, apparently you can only have done once ? In the same area. The reason I want my right breast removed is one I just want to minimise the risk , don't want to go through this a third time and I have big boobs and find it very uncomfortable and weird! I would much rather be flat. In fact one of my biggest regrets is not to insist on the removal of both. The surgeon said it was a knee jerk reaction and I would change my mind but I knew I wouldn't. Xxx

Not surprised you are finding it hard, it must be very difficult going through all the ops and procedures. May I wish you all the very best, let the forum know how you get on. I am sure everything will be fine and you will regain your health. I hope you have a loving supportive family and friends xxx

Good luck ! Rotten news when you thought you had beat it 😈 I had mastectomy 6 years ago tamoxifen chemo and radiotherapy. They now put me on letrozole for another 3 years ! I had reconstruction a year after my treatment from abdomen as I had lung cancer and had a lobe removed shortly after my mastectomy, lucky they said as it may not have been detected !! I not sure if I would have reconstruction again ! It's OK but I do look a bit like a patchwork quilt !! Keep us updated with your progress

So gutted for you must be very frightening I was diagnosed 14 years ago and I think the longer you are free from this awful disease you become complacent thinking it will never return. Wishing you love strength and hope for your difficult journey x
