Maybe ask your GP to refer you to an orthopaedic consultant for a possible guided steroid injection. Many people have found them invaluable for arthropathy pain relief. The main advice then, after an injection, is to take things very easy for several days afterwards and gradually build up to your usual level of movement/gentle exercise. A good physio will advise you…you can also ask your GP for a course of NHS physio. Good luck with it all.

thanks, I really haven't had any pain in my lumbar spine just the odd twinge and a bit stiff, it's my thoracic spine that's worse just after doing everyday things. I was diagnosed with some osteoarthritis in my right hip years ago it must be that.

Probably, as arthropathy relates to joint issues, most commonly osteoarthritis….which most people of our age have to some degree…”a touch of arthritis”..we hear them say! I know you have other health issues too, as do I Radars, which of course makes everything more difficult. I also live alone but I find gentle exercise such as walking, particularly outdoors (maybe consider a pair of lightweight wrist bands for extra weight bearing…I stress lightweight) and microwave heat bags to help on the sore/stiff areas….but also one of the most important things we older folk with health issues can do for ourselves is to push ourselves to have more of a social life. If you have a library nearby, pop in and have a look on their notice board for classes, clubs, activities, maybe a reading group at the library. I’m guilty of overthinking my health issues, concentrating on ‘me’ and I know it becomes a vicious circle, but making the decision to take GPs advice/physio advice regarding health/exercise matters then finding a knit and natter group through my local librarian has really helped me. Just my experience but you may also find it helpful.

Excellent advice. The power of socialization to help us focus on enjoying life versus health issues/pain, is very useful and contributes to longevity as well.

Goodness me Radars…. We’re not doomed. Thousands of very elderly people are living well with very severe osteoporosis! You’re obviously doing all the right things so please stop worrying….you’ll be fine!! Be positive 😊.
