evenity vs prolia+forteo

speak freely. my Mum's been given these choices, i would love it if she could come off prolia, but evenity sounds too high-powered. prolia has 60mg/6months of ingredient, and evenity has 210mg/1month of whatever it is, is that right?

i don't even know if i want to know.

had a T11 compression, had less than a month of teriparatide then stopped due to ill effects, but was willing to go on it again.

I'm confused. Is your Mum still on Prolia? Did they start her on teriparatide while she's still taking Prolia?

sorry confusion, it's a bit complicated. Mum on prolia, yes, began tptd nearly 3 months into that prol dose; stopped tptd after less than a month due to ill effects.

got second opinion, only because i questioned first endo, who didn't know that prolia can't be stopped using tptd.

at next scheduled given options to do prolia+tptd again (+ calcium, vti. d),

or, evenity.

Usually you start something different (usually Alendronic Acid tablets or a Zolendronic Acid infusion) at the time the next Prolia jab is due, ie exactly 6 months after the last one. I haven't heard of having both together!

endo wanted bone building, and i 'm not sure Mum could tolerate the aa, drs seem to want to stay away from bisph's, i read that it should've been done years ago,

possibly shiftless lazy endo who didn't do anything, at my Mum's great expense, and causing trauma to me.

yes in combination the prol with tptd show more gains than either of them separately, Leder 2015 Lancet,

i'm not interested in huge gains, but it's the only way tptd can be used if prolia can't be stopped, the situation's unspeakably bad,

Neither of these drugs build bone, they just stop bone being taken away .

Just for information (am aware you were mentioning other drugs) …..Binosto (alendronate) works by inhibiting osteoclasts which are responsible for breaking down and reabsorbing bone (by a process known as bone resorption). Alendronate strengthens bones by slowing down bone loss and allowing osteoblasts (bone-building cells) to work more effectively, improving bone mass.

Teriparatide does build bone. It does not retain bone.

Carry on then.

The only reason I chimed in was because I've taken used teriparatide. Had to for 6 months before my orthopedic surgeon would do fusion surgery.

Sorry you had to have spinal fusion. I have too at s1/l5.

I'm a bit late to reply and you may have made your decisions by now but I've been having the Evenity injections for 9 months now (you do them at home yourself) and am very happy with them. Evenity is very new and both builds bone and stops the breakdown of bone. Have you watched the Bone Matters medication support video? It's very good and well worth the time to watch it.
