Teriparatide

Hi, I'm coming to the end of 18 months on teriparatide and my doctor is extending this for a further 6 months. I'm wondering if anyone has taken a 'break' rather than going straight on for 2 years or has been offered an extra 6 months having finished the original 18 some time ago?

I use this 60 hour cooler for my teriparatide injection. I checked the measurements before buying and it’s great.

Now they want me to start teriparatide, which I'm very nervous about taking due to side effects and what could it do to my body in the future. From what I've read - teriparatide is a synthetic human parathyroid hormone (PTH) that mimics the loss of the 34 amino acids.

Mum has teriparatide injections and Mediquip do t provide a travel bag. Can anyone recommend a bag that keeps the own and a cartridge cook for at least 8 hours please. Many thanks :)

Hi I had my 1st teriparatide injection Tuesday at 10.30am with nurse. After 15 mins felt shaky and hot but after that ok. After 4 hours felt really tired that night slept differently to normal wKing up alot. Yesterday I did my own injection at 7.45pm as I wanted to change it to evenings.

Has anyone been successful in obtaining the latest anabolic drug Abaloparatide which is similar to Teriparatide, I would be very grateful to know. Thank you

Hi all, I was due to start teriparatide injections middle of January, I have now been informed that because of a shortage of supplies the drugs will now come from Italy! Not sure how I feel about this and whether I should be concerned, anyone else had the same issue?

I have now been recommended for teriparatide, I hate injections and just wonder how anyone else has fired with this treatment.

Can you have a week's break from the injections to go on holiday?

Hi,all I have just received the go ahead to start teriparatide middle of January, I'm still very apprehensive and not looking forward to the injections 🙄 I'm actually feeling OK at moment no fractures since last year, I'm hoping the treatment keeps it that way.I had no side effects with AA so am praying

I had to stop Teriparatide after seven weeks due to side effects. Then tried denosumab (Prolia) 3 months’ ago, and I’m pretty sure I won’t have the next one as the side effects have been dreadful. My and career have been with horses, so I haven’t ridden now for nearly 20 years.

My mum has been prescribed Teriparatide and has been taking it for around 9 months as her T score was -3.5 but hard to read dexa due to hip replacement and 3 spinal fractures, but given due to spinal fractures.

Hi all, I was meant to start teriparatide middle of January but was put on hold I had a high protein reading in my blood, but am now having a severe flare up in my lower back,the pain is unbearable especially first thing in the morning, I did an online consult on Tues.....still waiting for a reply 🙄

Even eating 3 hours or more before bed, she still gets indigestion / heartburn (a sour taste as she puts it), not sure if it’s the Teriparatide but I’d like to reduce that symptoms. Many thanks in advance

After the results from the bone density scan I was offered Teriparatide which I’m been on for 3 weeks . I have a long way to go

I’m scared because I had my first Denosumab injection yesterday afternoon, and all previous treatments gave me side effects (that’s all orals, that wrecked my insides), and then Teriparatide (had to stop after 7 weeks).

I’m about to start Teriparatide injections and am quite anxious about it.

He immediately suggested Teriparatide. This is a self administered injection with a pen once a day for two years. The NHS would not prescribe this.

Has anyone been through similar or does anyone have any positive stories about Teriparatide to give me some reassurance that things will improve for me. I look forward to hearing for other members. please do not suggest any social media groups as I am not on any.
