do fractures heal while on prolia ?

my Mum had a scan for possible fracture, had a scheduled dose of prolia, then at endo appointment, endo said she has a compression fracture.

every day i find i have another question about this wretched drug,

i probably should've called endo before the shot,

but his instructions weren't specific.

do bones heal while on prolia?

and that dose would've been the perfect time to trial a half-dose of prolia (with an interval of 4 or 5 months),

so it's not so harsh on the body and there is a shorter period of time that you re locked into treatment so you can start something else. that's just an idea of mine.

so you can't just stop prolia,

and is the continuation going to help Mum's vertebra to heal?

evidently her vertebrae aren't in great shape,

but if she went on to forteo next, how does the forteo prevent the bone loss that follows ceasing prolia?

i should've gotten a clue then, that the prolia isn't working,

didn't know what to do, or what to ask endo.

so is this going to make things worse ..? 😔

I’m not sure about Prolia specifically, but after a major fracture and spinal fusion, I had to go on Xgeva for a while. After 2 years I decided to look at the pharmaceutical company’s own website to see what the long term side effects would be of staying on it, vs coming off of it.

The drug’s own website page said the longer you’re on it, the higher your risk of fracture would be. And you could also have a leg fracture develop. But going off of it could also be detrimental. So in other words, I didn’t see either one being a great option.

I’m now off of it completely and doing everything I can to strengthen my bones, including weight bearing exercise, Vitamin K, etc. I wish I had an answer for the bone drug dilemma, but for me personally, I just didn’t see staying on it being wise long term. I hope you get some good input here!

Forsteo won’t heal the bones. Time will help ease the pain. It does strengthen the bones to help prevent more fractures.

I started off on Terraparatide. I had that for two years then I was put onto Denosumab. I had a gap of a couple of weeks between Terraparatide and Denosumab. I had four more fractures because of it. My Consultant has now said it’s got to be continuous with no breaks between. I’ve now taken Denosumab for another four or five years with no more fractures so I’m happy. I’ve got a Cousin that’s been on it for a lot longer than I have and since being on it she’s got no more fractures either. Before I took mine I had seven spinal fractures, a fracture of my hand and a fracture in my foot. So I can see the good in this medication.

I was sent home from hospital and rested at home but it was very difficult to cope and still is. I’m very independent though. I don’t think the pain ever goes. If I sit in my chair all day I’ve got no pain. The minute I start to do things it’s hurting again.

this drug is deadly, it is the silent killer, so many people getting conned into starting it, by threats of fractures;

managed by lazy doctors who regurgitate the marketing told to them by the manufacturers,

i have a lot of forgiving to do, may God help us all

i didn't deter my Mother from taking the most recent dose,

i did not know what to do,

so the situation is very bad.

i had been somewhat in favour of the forteo,

Mum didn't want daily shots, i said that they're tiny.

it could be that Mum has a go at concurrent drugs,

give the forteo a go for 6 months,

then right back on to the dangerous drug, prolia.

i've read that 1 month delay is ok,

heard the endo regurgitate that.

but i also read a hospital account (singapore) of patients who'd had a 4 week delay between shots who still had rebound fractures later.

how many i don't now but you can bet that if amgen knew they would cover that up.

and another study, or product info sheet, said that 53% of participants had no detectable levels of prolia in their system at 6 months.

what about the 47%, then? any clarification? did they have detectable levels, or did they have no detectable levels at, say, a guess, 5 months?

there's no further detail.

so if someone takes a 4 week delay, they could be up to 2 months out of any effective level.

then consider if 6 months, at 28 days per month, i.e 24 weeks have been rounded up to '6 calendar months' - 26 weeks,

this would add to the number of weeks delayed.

and some studies have 250 participants, or fewer, that is not enough to constitute a broad study.

so, i would say never take this poison. if you think your going to die in 5 years anyway, or have poor quality of life, maybe it'll suit.

may God bless whistleblowers and tellers of the truth

above all, may God bless the patients and their families

at the effect of this drug

which is the ruination of many lives.
