What is the number one Factor for putting blood pressure up is it diet is it stress is it medications what do you think?

Can anybody recommend me a good diet to follow I've been eating rabbit food for the last 2 weeks and it's getting really boring, thanks

is there any alternative to salt I have tried loads of black pepper etc balsamic vinegar lemon juice but is there a low sodium salt or should I just stay away from all salt because of my stage 4 kidney disease

lots of questions I know but I don't really want to to start separate topics or posts so I would rather just ask this one time I'm thanks for all your advice in advance

It's a whole bunch of things: genetics, stress, diet etc.I radically changed my diet to plant based and gave up meat.I still take meds but only half of what I did plus I walk every day and I meditate. My bp is now good and low instead of dangerously high so all good!Plus I lost five and a half stone. My food isn't all salads though...had a veg curry tonight. Plus my reduced carbs are all wholegrain now. Check out the Blood Pressure Association website for tips and good advice.

deemaxxx, meditation is a skill to be learned like any other. Just because your mind skitters off to something else shows you’re .... normal!

Your brain is always alert to what’s going on around it, even if things are nice and quiet. That’s because our brain is still in our cave-dwelling days when a predator could come along and eat you up, so your brain is alert.

When you’re settling down to meditate, recognise that’s this is going to happen. Set a timer so that you don’t keep checking your watch, and give yourself two minutes of concentration on your breathing. When your brain slides off after about thirty seconds, just bring it gently back to concentrate on your breathing again. Next time, maybe three minutes. Just practice!

Do let us know how you get on.

Just read your post. Congratulations on getting high blood pressure sussed. Your post offers me great reassurance l have a lot to learn from you. I now walk every day, have kicked snacking and stick to healthy eating. My carb intake is a lot lower as l am also borderline diabetic with high cholesterol. My weight is beginning to come down too. I hope in a couple of months time l too could have got to grips with high blood pressure. 🌺

Life’s a bitch isn’t it !! I try to follow the 800 diet mainly Mediterranean and also 5-2 but still found my blood pressure was high. Just started on this horrible journey to find a tablet that suits ! On 3rd type in 4 weeks.

Hi, regarding meditation, I have recently done a course via the London Buddhist centre which was wonderful. Not sure it affected my blood pressure but all my chronic back pain went. I definitely hold emotion in my body. Worth a look.
