They have given Me a home Bp monitor to keep a diary and it’s ranging from high to very high and contact go for urgent apointment. I don’t add salt to my food but I no salt is in all we eat, I just can’t exercise due to health conditions I have. Does anyone no what the first call dr will do to treat me and any idea of lowest side effects of medication as I’m on quite a bit already tia x
UPDATE:- I am now on tablets as hypertension has been added onto my medical record

Did you know that not all food has salt added. Particularly home cooked fresh food.
If it is prepared off the shelf then it will likely have, salt, salt substitute, sugar or sugar substitute in it. Or all manner of man made rubbish to taste desirable and make more profit.
I can tell you when medicated and it doesn't suit you, got back to your Dr as they can change it and try again. Generally when sorted with meds it is back to living your life with maybe some diet and lifestyle changes.
Check the NHS website for ME/CFS, it should give you some ideas. I usually google search and read all I can then believe only some of it .Particularly the reputable sites like NHS and Mayo clinic etc. It is a matter of sifting through the anecdotal evidence and focusing on the information backed by scientific evidence. That is why I stick with reputable sites.
That is not to say all anecdotal evidence is rubbish, just be cautious with the information. Some can work for you while others are no more than advertising or a waste of time.
Thank you, Bp has been reslly high since using the monitor at home, hovering between type 1 hypertension & went to type 3 but next day back to type 1 again yes always take it on resting
sorry I meant to add about exercise. You say you’re unable to exercise. but exercise doesn’t necessarily means jogging or whatever.
Search on the NHS website for “exercises for older people”. Within that there are several chair-based exercises or ones where you hold onto a chair. Personally I’ve progressed from these to following Joe Wicks on Utube, doing his exercises for seniors. Why not try either of these?
Thank you not it’s that I have ME/CFS so everything I do physically & mentally impacts my energy levels really badly, the littlest amount of any type of exercise I’m out of action for days sometimes weeks and puts me into a flare up and I really suffer then, I used to go the gym 3/4 times week before this and miss exercise so much now, swings & roundabouts
Nat I have similar. Concur with Happyrosie.Very slowly and I mean very start moving more. If you react negatively then you may be doing too much extra.
From going to gym regularly, implies that you used to challenge yourself, like I did. You are under a new set of rules now, a new timescale. The goal is not the next marathon, it's Wheelchairing a further 50m or walking an extra 50 m.
If you feel bad one day cut any extra distances and go back 3 or 4 weeks.
If you feel you can do an extra 100m then only do 50m.
Similar system for those video movements by Joe Wickes. Restrict how you push yourself. Manage your condition, don't give up
Thank you very much for your kind words and encouragement, I have learnt how to pace myself slowly, which took years, adapting and changing mindset, Iv done Cbt which made my condition so much worse, they now know that it doesn’t help, it just aggravates which isn’t just physical but also cognitive, it feels like punishment for doing anything you need of want to do, it’s so frustrating as everyone who has it is different
I’m so sorry you are troubled. The problem with Health Unlocked is that we don’t know all about your health , as a health professional would, so any tips we might give could be counterproductive
Hii Nat107, I am glad you have your BP sorted out. I went for many years with high blood pressure which was not treated so consequently my heart is enlarged in places which is not good. I must add that I have never had a problem with my BP tabs and neither has my husband. Good luck and take care, Maximonkey
Thank you for reply, I guess that’s why they call it the ticking time bomb as no one really knows who has until getting checked and if I had not went in for colonoscopy mine would not have been picked up as when I go for annual bloods thyroid etc they put it down to white cooler syndrome or waiting room wait. I’m glad you were finally given treatment as makes all the difference doesn’t it x
Hi Nat, it certainly does make a difference, so glad they checked you out at the hospital. Colonoscopys are not much fun but very necessary, hope you had a negative result. Take care, Maximonkey
ty very much no they aren’t but definitely necessary I was clear, but back in 2ww as I’m anaemic and stool & fit test positive & abnormal so don’t no what they will do now, something def going on with me but just don’t no what x
