Panicking about urology tests

I've never suffered with UTIs but this year had 2 episodes of heavy blood in urine and bad pain, and GP last time sent samples to the lab, and as a result I need to be seen urgently by a consultant for a cystoscopy and renal scan. I don't know anything except that the test result was 'abnormal' and the GP asked for consultant opinion and they said I needed the follow up tests.

I am now truly panicking and imagining worst case scenario.

Has anyone had a similar experience please?

I've had numerous infections with excruciating pain and bleeding, you are lucky the urologist is doing further tests because the ones I've seen aren't interested in doing anything other than scan.

Hope it goes ok for you.

The point is that I am referred as there is bleeding but no infection.

Sorry I misread, hopefully it's something simple like a bladder or kidney stone, good luck.

I have had numerous UTIs for over 45yrs. Currently recovering from a hysterectomy but I had a cystoscopy at the same time due to bladder scarring from the numerous UTIs. It’s just a camera inserted into your bladder to have a look see what’s going on, ie any stones, infections, growth (don’t panic on that word). I have also had the renal scan this gives them a picture of whether your kidneys are scarred or not emptying properly. With that information they can then give you a course of treatment. I frequently have bugs and blood showing in my pee tests but they then can’t culture to give me antibiotics. As I’ve had the hysterectomy I currently have a catheter (being removed next week) and woke up to find I had peed a bottle of burgundy overnight, by the time I got to the hospital i was down to peeing rosé. Am on antibiotics and working my way through the spirit range, brandy and now a nice mature whisky. Hope that made you smile.

Seriously don’t panic they are not looking for anything nasty just what is causing the blood, which is an infection of some sort, and is there a cause for the infection.
